Far Cry 3 combines first person shooter elements with rpg elements in an open world setting without sacrificing good gameplay value. If you think about it most of the time an open world game has all the basics but sacrifices great gameplay like stealth mechanics, an engaging story, believable game characters, and an epic setting. Whereas Far Cry 3 sacrifices none of these things.
The new trailer for the free 60 FPS update is here.
I'm happy with Part 3 & Blood Dragon getting the 60FPS treatment. I'll eventually try Primal, maybe this weekend.

A new FarCry television series has been announced.
I wonder if they'll go way back to where the story started w/ weird animal-like genetic mutations. I don't think the current games even try to tie back to that origin, or at least I don't see any attempt to...

Speaking on stage at Saudi Arabia’s New Global Sport Conference (covered by Game File), CEO Yves Guillemot was asked about the future of the shooter series, which recently fell under the control of a new Tencent-backed subsidiary.
Currently playing FC4 for the first time. On the plus side, the 60fps update is great. On the down side, the multiplayer is the weakest part. Just chatting in the lobbies, ppl were only doing it for the online trophies. I don’t know that anybody really wants more of that.
Fun game and definitely what farcry 2 should have been
It's so very awesome, I love it.
It does not have a purple monkey dishwashes, false claims!
I'm hoping the PS3 version looks good as well as the other platforms.
I recieved my copy yesterday and it is EPIC! Surpasses FC2 in every way and my 2012 GOTY. I played two hours yesterday and in that time I got rammed by a boar, bit by a snake, killed two massive turtles and then got bit and chased by three Komodo Dragons.
