looks like second life on mars to me

ravinash6659d ago

Although I'm pretty sure if Mars had an ocean, it would also have clouds.

Agreed, it looks great. But, what is it?

spandexxking6659d ago

hope they bring this to consoles this game sounds intense!

TheIneffableBob6659d ago

I'm positive that it will be PC only.
Virtual world environments are almost always going to be on the PC because of the closed nature of consoles. It may be possible that something like this could come to the PS3 (see: Home), but these screens were definitely taken with a PC.

Is that the 360 exclusive? I remember a pick of snow and mountains. Could be that the exclusive?

hades076659d ago

I was thinking the same thing when i saw the pics. It definately looks an awfully lot like it.

gambare6659d ago

Already checked again the 360 exclusive, and it's goldeneye HD, just for a moment I thought that was, but it's going to be a PC title (for now)

wageslave6658d ago

@3.2: Do you have some evidence for this? Perhaps a link to a credible news source that says that?

Im sure many people will be happy if Goldeneye comes to Xbox LIVE Arcade, and if you've got some evidence, where is it?

chaosatom3336659d ago

i think the engine is developed for both the consoles. i am not talking about the wii btw.

wageslave6658d ago

UbiSoft bought the engine in 2006 actually. So, I'd assume it would be cross-plat compatible, yes, clearly not Wii.

Oh boy, I can easily seeing the CryEngine in it's entry level truth, there is no way this will be 110% if it will be a MMO.

Massively: Blue Mars Interview

As Blue Mars goes into a scaled, open beta, interest has been rising in Avatar Reality's virtual environment. Inevitably, it's compared to Linden Lab's Second Life and – rightly or wrongly – will probably be wearing that comparison for some years to come. Certainly, Second Life users have found the environment intriguing so far.

It seemed only proper that Massively sit down with Jim Sink, Avatar Reality's CEO and find out a little bit more about Blue Mars.

Anything to do with Kim Stanley Robinson's book, or not?

Nope, I remember hearing about it and thought it was related, but looked into it and found out it's not related.

Blue Mars gets beta, launch dates

Eurogamer writes: "Avatar Reality has let Eurogamer know that its massively multiplayer virtual world Blue Mars will enter beta testing at the turn of the year, in January 2009.

The first-time developer expects this to last for around three months, before the full game launches in April. And perhaps there will be time for some tea and biscuits if all goes well.

Blue Mars has attracted attention for its impressive CryENGINE2-powered visuals - the same software at the heart of Crysis."
