BDA comment on HD DVD's death

The Blu-ray Disc Association has made an official statement regarding Toshiba's announcement that they would no longer be supporting the HD DVD format. Andy Parsons, Chairman, Blu-ray Disc Association U.S. Promotions Committee commented,

"We in the Blu-ray Disc Association are very happy that this long format war is officially over. Now the task ahead for our member companies is to promote the Blu-ray Disc format as the best way to bring premier quality high definition content into consumers' lives."

Official Statement.... "WOOHOO!!"

LJWooly6664d ago

At least this 'war' wasn't nearly as long or as costly as the vHS vs. Betamax war. Thank god...

DrPirate6663d ago

I hear that.

No longer will these articles about movie formats be spammed all over the site.

fenderputty6664d ago

can we finally stop with the format war articles? It's over, toshiba has commented, BD has commented, Sales increase articles have been covered, MS take on the issue has been covered, DD has been covered and so has everything else.

Let's move on and be happy this format can take off to the mainstream now.

Silellak6664d ago (Edited 6664d ago )

I agree. I think every possible variation of every side of the format war has been posted.

It's over. Blu-ray has triumphed, largely due to the PS3. Digital downloads are not serious competition. Sony was right, the doubters (myself included) were wrong.

Now let's all get back to arguing about whose system can kick whose system's ass. My money's still on the Atari 2600; it'll make a comeback, trust me. Moon Lander 2: Land Harder is THE exclusive game to watch out for in 2009.

skitzoid6664d ago

Now we are going to hear a ton of blog and lower end site articles of how Digital Download is going to eventually beat out BluRay.... blah, blah, blah, blah, BLECH!

It will never end. People need a reason to b|tch.

AllroundGamer6664d ago

now we will see hopefully some price drop on the BD movies and blank BD-Roms.

LJWooly6664d ago

Yeah, that's my only major qualm with BluRay; the price is still pretty high. I'm glad BluRay won, though.
