Im starting to get sick of this format war...I have a blu-ray player so I'm happy, but every other story on here is about it...wow

I don't see how they could... rivals companies don't work well together.MS will try their downloadable movie crap next.

MS needs to focus on separating their prices from Sony. Perceived value is the key and the 360 doesn't need to have a Br add-on, it needs to be a cheaper than PS3 gaming machine. As of now, when people look at the specs of the PS3 vs 360 and then look at the minuscule price difference(the 40gig is even cheaper than the Elite) than it is a no brainer to buy a PS3. A Br add-on will just drive up the comparison costs of the 2 systems. If MS want to go head to head with that feature they should pull out the DVD drive and include a Br drive internally and price it at the 40gig SKU of the PS3, anything else is convoluted and confusing and a price disadvantage.

MS will release an addon for sure. and the next gen xbox will include a player built in and games made on blu

they better not price it anywhere from 250 to 300 because if they do and the ps3 is at 299.99 then thats 17MILLION POTENTIAL 360 OWNERS ABOUT TO BUY A PS3.

and also, a add on wont slow down ps3 sales at all because people who want a bluray player only are just gonna get the ps3.

thier not gonna walk in a store and get a 360 JUST TO GET THE ADD ON.

it may slow down sales for the people that have 360's that dont have 50 extra dollars just to get a ps3 but to all those that arent into gaming...................not in the least.

I DONT THINK MICROSOFT WILL RELEASE A ADD ON BECAUSE OF THOSE REASONS, all they would be doing is paying sony royalty fees and not to mention, they would be contributing to how much blurays are manufactured for.

and if prices como down for bluray and the PS3 is a bluray player?....................... ..............

people need to think outside the box and realize that because of those few reasons that i just mentioned, microsoft wont release a addon. they would just be helping sony in the gaming division

Why they think MS has an authority or an right to just say ok where using blue ray now. Until the BDA/Sony agree on something(unless they havent already) then MS wont be putting their mitts on BR. BR already won they dont need MS support so the only benefit they would get out of giving it to MS is by forcing them to fork over a huge amount of money.

The article has truth to it and it's pretty much obvious that MS will have to respond with a Blu-Ray add on. If they don't, then Sony would most definitely use the failure of HD-DVD against them.

Oh and in response to MS's comments about games selling consoles...yeah it's true that games do sell consoles, but two advantages that Sony has in addition to games is that they have included a Blu-Ray player, and the "Playstation" name. Throw in the built in Wi-Fi, ability to upgrade your HD, free online service, web browser, dvd player, PS 1 and 2 player, multimedia player, and you got yourself a no brainer purchase.

One last thing...PS3 is essentially the best Blu-Ray player available. It has the ability to upgrade via firmware and everything else I mentioned above. Some people will buy PS3 only for Blu-Ray and others for games, etc.

You combine that and the recent news that Blu-Ray won...and you got a VERY good possibility that Sony will indeed dominate.

yea i do agree with you to some extent but like i said, since bluray has won, prices for the ps3 can come do much faster because of the bluray laser being manufactured for cheaper.

so it will kind've negate the fact that standalone bluray players will be cheaper.

sidenote: people need to stop getting confused when people talk about bluray add ons for the 360.
a bluray add on for the 360 isnt really like the 360 is a bluray player, its pretty much just a standalone bluray player that compatible with you're 360.

so i really dont think a add on for the 360 would affect ps3 sales in the least. because it could take the opposite affect that some people may think and actually put it into the minds of consumers that they could just fork over maybe another 20 dollars and buy a ps3 which is much more value for you're money then you would get with just an add on.

Microsoft is trying to push digital downloads. They won't make a Blu Ray player.

but i guess people could easily say that regardless of microsoft or not, bluray will be the next disk format so microsoft might as well but again, im not going to explain myself all over again, people can just read my first 2 comments.

If sony was smart they should make a deal with MS that allows sony to get all exclusives to any game it wants even if it is a MS game.. how funny would that be (even tho I hate it) if halo 4 came to PS3 as an exlusive hahaha.. Just a thought sony should look into

Well, even with an ad-on, it will be slower (through USB), will not be used for gaming, and will cost quite a bit on TOP of the console purchase. Still a better option to buy a Playstation 3.

A BD strap-on announcement within a month? I'll take that bet. Instead they'll probably continue to announce content partnerships and play up the "future is downloadable HD" angle. Not that many people will buy this, mind you.

Well, DUH! No doubt they'll try to "market" their way around it, but a lot of people have known this for a long time now. Others are coming to the painful realization only after throwing away good money, and are not very likely to buy another kludgey strap-on for the 360, no matter what the format is.

A Year ago everyone on this site was crapping on Me and My PS3 . I spent a lot of time Crying on a Saturday night . ( I'm Sensitive )
