Splitkick: I wanted Need for Speed: Most Wanted to be a great game. All signs pointed at a spiritual successor to Criterion’s Burnout Paradise. While the individual pieces may still exist and have been improved upon, the entire package doesn’t feel as compelling. Putting direct comparisons aside, there are several pieces that make me long for a Hot Pursuit 2 as opposed to what was released with Most Wanted.

Need for Speed: Most Wanted is still iconic mainly due to its corny storyline, its superb gameplay, and the unforgettable BMW M3 GTR.

Hm, this reviewer touched on a lot of topics that many haven't, and I'm glad. While I'm not sure if I agree with the 6/10 score (I actually might agree, because I got "burned out" from this game pretty quickly), I REALLY like the idea of a "Fun per Session" chart, because I started out loving this game, but then the fun-factor just took a swan dive as I got close to completing it. Things just got repetitive and, like the reviewer states, there just wasn't any personality in this game at all. I don't need the crummy NFS-style story lines from years past, but I do think Criterion should have brought a better "feel" to this game, like they did with the new 'Hot Pursuit', which I loved.
To rank Criterion's titles so far this generation, not including 'Burnout Crash'.

Games clearly an 8.5. Got the game trial through ps+ and was hooked after 5 minutes.
