Nintendo has today released Fallblox, the follow-up to one of the most popular puzzle-platformers of the year, on Nintendo 3DS. Fallblox sees the return of Mallo, the sumo-wrestler-shaped hero from the original Pullblox, as he pushes, pulls and climbs his way to the rescue, but with gravity and a much bigger play field to contend with, he’s going to have his hands full.

Nintendo has announced that Fullblox is available to download on the European 3DS eShop from today. The game - which is the latest in a series of titles which includes Pullblox and Fallblox - features the rotund Mallo as he attempts to solve a wide range of puzzles.
The unique thing about this offering - which launched yesterday in Japan under the title Pushmo: Hippa Land - is that it's entirely free to download, with tutorial levels up for grabs right away.

"A long, long time ago, when videogames were the scrappy newbie on the block, graphics were so basic that any attempt at realism still resulted in something fairly abstract. An already-blocky level could easily feature floating platforms, without feeling obligated to explain how they could be floating. Even when games first set foot into a 3D space, environments remained simple and boxy by necessity. When they eventually evolved to have convincingly organic geometry, the strict symmetry went away - and with it, a lot of the "exactness" of early video games faded. Also, as a result, the line between the abstract and the realistic became increasingly palpable." (DarkZero)
