With expectation at a fever pitch it will definitely launch at number one in America and Europe. But will it be one of the biggest games of 2008? No, and the reasons are obvious.

The Wii is now a retro console. Let’s get nostalgic about an often maligned system.
Crazy to think the WII is to the Switch 2, as the NES was to the WII back then. 20 Year difference.
My wife asks me to bust it out (heh) everyone once in a while to play bowling and tennis with the kids. There was a ton of slop on it but some good stuff as well.
Wii was great but boy howdy did it cause Microsoft to go on a dark walk with the Kinect and the disastrous XBox One launch that they arguably never recovered from.
Not nostalgic for me.. I was there.. anyone who wasnt a little kid realized it was a gamecube with shit tacked onto it, it was the "joke" system and was well below even the switch in terms of comparing it to the latest machines at the time. The machine was well loved by young people and "casual gamers" who now remember it 20 years on, or in most cases more of its sales came in the 15-20 years ago range not right at launch- but again its not nostalgic for people who were "gamers" then really, just for those who ended up with one in their house, the games , graphics, interface and online features were archaic already in 2006.

Are you ready for another trip through the cosmos on Starship Mario?

All of the Super Smash Bros. games are incredible, but which one stands as the mightiest of them all and has the best modes?
To me smash brows Melee is my all time favorite. I can't tell you how many hours I played that game between friends and family. When I was a kid, my parents couldn't afford a gaming console so I had to go somewhere that had an arcade like setup with the only difference being instead of arcade cabinets, they had big screen crt TV's and gaming consoles setup. I would go with my friends on special occasions after school or with my family on the weekends.
I would meet and make new friends at that place as we were all gamers and we also brought our game boys and would trade pokemon. I don't think those places exist these days but back then, it was easy to meet like-minded people and have fun for hours.
Well, I’ll add my extremely subjective ranking too. I won’t include the 3DS version as I don’t owned it. I did play it for a few minutes though.
5. Brawl.
4. N64 Smash
3. Ultimate
2. Wiiu Smash
1. Melee
"Basically Super Smash Bros, Brawl (SSBB) and SMG are gamer’s games. They are mainly bought by people for whom gaming is a hobby. And whilst many Wii owners are gamers, most of them aren’t. Most Wii owners are casual game players, and whilst some of these may well be interested in SSBB, most won’t be."
Wrong Japan loves these things and most Wii owners are now " moms and dads" but how many people said : the only reason im getting a Wii is for smash brawl.....
this guy is so wrong!! the only reason this game could sell slower then expected is because Nintendo cant get their Wii's ready.
his logic fails
I think he makes a valid point. Smash Bros will sell very well, but look at highly awaited titles like No More Heroes, which flopped in Japan and did so so in the US. The Wii really is a casual system. Games aren't selling nearly as fast as the system is, and that's where the trouble lies.
OK so his logic is that SSBB is a gamer's game but the Wii is for casual gamers...he doesn't think a gamer will buy a Wii for this game? He acts like no more Wiis will be in production ever again and the only people that have one are strictly casual gamers. One of the appealing things about the game is that it's easy to pick up and play in the first place. It's not Street Fighter so you don't need to make half and full circles or charge moves to pull of a special move, yet there's so many ways to play it. I mean...I can go on forever about how wrong this guy is, but basically the game will be pretty big all around in 2008. It's not targeted for a specific group...other than Little Big Planet and SSBB, the most anticipated games in 2008 are mostly hardcore
Sorry Bruce...gotta disagree with you
Thing IS a system seller. Did he not see the pics of the 500+ people on every line in Japan buying Wiis with Gamecube controllers? I repeat, with "GAMECUBE CONTROLLERS". SSBB is not only selling Wii systems, it is also selling GAMECUBE CONTROLLERS!
Article = Epic Fail
Disagree as much as you want.
Really really really BIG HUGE and hopefully equally fantastic.
