How to Install PlayStation Mobile on any Android Device

PlayStation Mobile recently launched for the Vita and PlayStation certified Android phones, but if you’re not in the very select group of certified devices supporting PlayStation Mobile you’re not out of luck; because anyone with a rooted Android phone can easily install PlayStation Mobile on their device.

This very simple hack comes courtesy of the Android police, and is briefly outlined below:

I don't have an android device myself, but I assume that if you do, it can't hurt to get some PS love any way you can.

Obnoxious_Informer4959d ago

Especially with trophies coming at some point.

Pixel_Enemy4959d ago

Nice. I might have to try this on my Galaxy Nexus.

Psm at the moment seems pretty lame... So it wouldn't be in anyone's interest to do this right now, and save the space for when the time comes that if and when Psm takes off.... If it does

Can those who disagree with the above comment provide some insight as to why? All we ever hear is how tablets and smartphones don't do real gaming yet now PSM is an option touchscreen gaming is ok?

jon12344959d ago

Yea makes no sense, I have a vita and I check the Psm tab every now and then, it's all crappy touch games and anything on the regular psn store from minis to full fledged vita games are way better... I could see people wanting to buy stuff through Psm for the cheap prices... But to buy a 79 cent or what ever the prices are on my vita , is a big hassle, I would have to put 5 bucks in my wallet to buy those lame games....

Because this is PSMobile and not in any way is this meant to represent what the Vita can do. This strategy is for mobile devices and Vita just happens to be one device that's supported.

You said it yourself: 'All we ever hear is how tablets and smartphones don't do real gaming'. That hasn't changed. Vita owners still get AAA titles, but they also get typical mobile games too.

The argument still stands: mobile devices can't compete with dedicated gaming handhelds such as the 3DS or the Vita because touch screen isn't good enough to control AAA titles that require analogue sticks. Why is that difficult to understand?

...and no, I'm not one of those that disagreed. I am, however, someone who agrees with this strategy, because 'some' people DO like these pick up and play games. I don't myself, but that's not a problem, I buy dedicated Vita games instead.

People really need to learn how to compartmentalise their debating skills and not let one argument bleed into another.

Sony should make the possible next Xperia Play able to play Vita games, just like the first one could run PSP games. The difference would be, that the Xperia Play2 would be released earlier on, providing it with sold games for years to come. Design would be a big problem though, maybe in few years, when the hardware gets smaller.

The vita does have hardware that could be manufactured in a cell phone so hopefully in a few years Sony will make a very powerful gaming cellphone. The only thing Xperia play is good for is emulators. But if Sony made it it's main focus like ps4 and Xperia play 2: vita returns, it would be amazing.

if they make their mobile games playable on ps5 and their maybe new handheld, that would be huge. cause i aint playing any free games on my phone, cause mobile games suck. haha.

Retro1986729d ago

I like mobile games, but the problem for me is that «free games» usually has alot of p2w or other microtransaction connected to them. LoL, Hearthstone, civ, fm etc is great on iPad 😊 Would love to see rise of kingdoms etc Get rid of p2w formula.

Guitardr85729d ago

Does anyone remember PS MInis from the PS3 era? I feel like most of those were mobile games that were ported...No reason they couldn't do that again I suppose. :)

gold_drake729d ago

yeeeess i had some of them haha

P_Bomb729d ago

Ha, I remember those! They didn’t have trophies so I’ve lost track of most of them, but I remember Hysteria Project and Angry Birds.

piher729d ago

I feel like people don't understand what mobile gaming is anymore.

It's not the button phone cheap Tetris clones or movie licensed stuff anymore.

Mobile gaming is huge games like Genshin Impact Honkai: Star Rail, Wuthering Waves, Amazon and Bandai/Namco's Blue Protocol games with budgets that rival and even exceed AAA, but even things like CoD and other big western games have mobile versions.

All the games listed also have PC and console versions.

Sony already owns several big mobile games most famously Fate/Grand Order.

gold_drake728d ago

i feel like you are overblowing what other ppl have said ha.

most mobiles are still very much your gatcha style of gaming.

the games u listed, absolutely, but that wasnt even my comment. mobile games, if they are not on anything else, sucks. so to have them on a handheld with buttons or on a console to, would be a win for me

Philaroni729d ago

I'm going to say this and ether A: I'm crazy or B: I'm crazy, but do any of you remember when Sony years back had the Xperia Play. Touched one never got it myself. If Sony is looking for a handheld (Look at Apple with the games it can run on there own devices) I wonder if maybe, just maybe they try to make a play for the Phone space again. Just my 2 cents, well with inflations I guess my 2 dimes.

Kurisu729d ago

Make an Xperia Play 2 that actually has functionality with the PS5 and I might bite! Loved the Xperia Play, showing off Crash Bandicoot on it was great but that's the only game I had for it.

The GM is the programmer, and in MMOs and co-ops, you can play with others. If you want to ONLY use your imagination for the visuals, read a book.
