No More PS+ Freebies For October

There are still two Tuesdays to go in October, but that doesn't mean you should expect any more free games from the Playstation Plus service this month. A post in the comment section of the Playstation blog by community manager Morgan Haro has revealed that there aren't any plans for PS+ for the rest of the month. But it isn't all bad news.

Well, that's a shame. They were on a roll for the first two weeks, but I guess we can't expect something free every week. Does anybody remember how many free games PS+ got in North America last month? I think it was only one or two; maybe I'm forgetting some.

realiks5010d ago

and they were some mini games. when my plus expires after two days I won't renew till I see some good games appearing on the shelves.

FunAndGun5010d ago

man, we JUST got King of Fighters, NFL Blitz, and Payday: the Heist this month.

In September we got Boarderlands, Double Dragon Neon (a new release), Scott Pilgrim, and Starhawk SP.

You guys expect way too much for only $50 a year.

Seriously.

Omnislash5010d ago

@FunAndGun

Youre right Ive been so spoiled lately lol....

MaxXAttaxX5009d ago

We've already gotten quite a bit of freebies this month.

And it's only a few more days until November.

jwk945009d ago

Of course there wouldnt be anymore, we're allotted 3 a month.

GribbleGrunger5009d ago (Edited 5009d ago )

Sony actually asked people over at the official forum whether they wanted the three free games at the start of the month or one a week. They've opted to give people all three games early and now we get headlines like this? Am I to take it then that we'll be getting a headline like this every month from now on? Jeees. One game a month would justify a subscription fee.

The deal is: 12 games up front and 3 a month from then on. Nothing has changed. Just more spin to garner hits.

There are more free games planned for November so everyone needs to chill a bit. With so many good games coming out the next few weeks I'm sure everyone will be to busy to notice that Sony has cooled down on the free games.

Refer to the 3rd post here to see what Morgan has to say.

I need to update as I want Re5 so I can Platinum it again.

MasterCornholio5010d ago (Edited 5010d ago )

I have already downloaded more than 9 free games with plus ever since i got it several months ago. It isn´t enough i need more free games.

LOL kidding i had my fill but i cant wait for Sony to treat us to another round of free titles. Gotta love Sony instead of charging us for features that should be free (speaking in general) they give us free games and content which is what real gamer´s want.

Pillsbury15010d ago

Paying to play online versus free games? I know which one I want! Long live play!

Jazz41085010d ago

Go play some skyrim dlc. Oh wait not even sony can get that to work on the split ram machine.

MaxXAttaxX5009d ago

Which has absolutely nothing to do with either XBL or PS Plus.

And no, I don't need to decorate my house and adopt kids. I'm fine with the main Skyrim game.

TheRichterBelmont5010d ago

As was said earlier, a lot of PS3 owners don't own Vita's, so I hope when they start doing PSPlus Vita stuff, it doesn't affect content PS3 owners get, or I probably won't renew.

doogiebear5010d ago

Good point. It's bad enough that Sony splits the market by saving some games for vita instead of ps3. I wish we could have persona 4 golden, but im not paying $250 for a vita. I already supported sony when it counted most. But I cant cough up another $250 for a portable that is essentially no different from a ps3.

Pillsbury15010d ago

The vita is a great piece of hardware and there will be exclusives on it not available on ps3 so stop crying about it.

MaxXAttaxX5009d ago (Edited 5009d ago )

The Vita is plenty different from the PS3.
You're bitching because the Vita has exclusive games of its own? LOL

That's not called "splitting the market". Persona 4 came out on PS2, not PS3.

Hicken5009d ago

When did it count most? And you're talkin P4, but that went from PS2 to Vita, skipping the PS3 you seem to think they're shorting.

Oh, and you know the biggest difference between the Vita and the PS3?

Let's see you play your PS3 on public transportation.

Well, actually, I guess you can... if you have a Vita.

But seriously. You're REALLY choosing NOT to buy a Vita because it's like a portable PS3?

REALLY?

MaxXAttaxX5009d ago

But most Vita owners are PS3 gamers.

Look I know VIII has its issues and all that but how on earth can the do big anniversary events with new artwork and merchandise for VII, IX and X yet VIII got sweet f*** all.

They could have given it something during its 25th anniversary yet all it got was a single Happy Anniversary post on their social media.

solideagle73d ago

they should know that we are OG fans of VIII as it sold truckload as well. not as much as VII or X. I personally didn't like IX but X and VI are my personal fav.

Shadow Hearts 2 covenant is another game I love. I hope one day someone can make remake, I would be delighted

Final Fantasy VIII is great and you are always the first to defend it in the comments

Press X to (seriously) doubt.

Underrated comment. I used to hate that game so much that any time my siblings asked me to play it, I just picked Hom and shut myself down mid-match.

Soy80d ago

And then MK1 killed it again.

15 years went by so fast. I remember playing through the story mode at launch.

PlayStation legend Shuhei Yoshida says Jim Ryan fired him because he didn't listen to him

Why did Sony push Shuhei Yoshida out of his role leading PlayStation's first-party games? He'd overseen some huge successes. Well, apparently, he didn't listen.

Yeah I can see that for sure. Shuhei Yoshida should have been in charge not Jim Ryan.

Cacabunga81d ago

It should be free highway for him now.. but Sony are too stupid to see this, especially that moron Hulst

S2Killinit81d ago (Edited 81d ago )

Wtf why all that anger. PlayStation is dominating on every level. Besides I think there is a little more to hiring a CEO than just who is available. Its not like its a athlete your team wants to buy.

neutralgamer199281d ago

S2Killinit

live service failures, chasing trends, closing studios. yes dominating

Cacabunga81d ago

Sony is Dominating because competition is not existing. Compared to previous gens this is the poorest in terms of software offerings.

Last gen we got Uncharted 4 Lost Legacy and TLOU2 from ND alone.

This is so far a remasters gen, with no competition to lift up the quality

1nsomniac81d ago (Edited 81d ago )

..."PlayStation is dominating on every level"....

...Really???

PlayStation are soon heading into a new generation in the not to distant future. They currently have the worst customer satisfaction they've ever sustained as a company. The company is heading for a huge crash while at the same time they'll need to be planning how they are going to try and win back that favour and the build up to their new releases.

Yes financially they're winning but they're going to have to ride out this complete public corporate disaster. No one has faith in the company or the product anymore. They've damaged their public image so much this generation. Greed can kill anyone.

medman81d ago

Hulst is a disaster......

He would've done the same thing and fire Jim Ryan and Shuhei would be the villain. Why?
Because Elite creates the narrative and distraction for gamers, users and citizens.

Outside_ofthe_Box81d ago

More confirmation that Jim Ryan is the culprit for what has happened to Sony. Hulst needs to go too. What sucks is that a lot of the good top heads at Sony are no longer there. I wish that guys that were forced out prematurely by Dumbo Jimbo like Shuhei and Layden came back.

robtion80d ago

Yep. Yoshida was responsible for bringing one of the best games of this generation to playstation (Stellar Blade). He is an actual gamer and is in touch with what gamers want (creative, fun games, not GaaS and agenda pushing). He also seems like a genuinely nice guy if you watch some interviews. Of course they got rid of him.

darthv7281d ago

Makes you wonder if MS even thought about hiring him after Phil and Sarah were leaving. He certainly couldn't make their situation any worse.

Agent7581d ago

Microflop. After Windows XP and Xbox 360, it all went floppy.

S2Killinit81d ago

Floppy 😆
No pun intended

badz14981d ago

Yoshida for President! Jim Ryan was and always be a hack! Sony should get Shu back

Lightning7781d ago

All the gamer/consumer lead heads are gone across PS and Xbox. shuhei gone phil's gone (questionable) but gone. The future of gaming is somewhat uncertain across the board.
