Expanding the Legend: Mandatory Upgrading

ZU writes: The Legend of Zelda has always offered players the ability to upgrade equipment as the game progresses, but prior to The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword most upgrades were required to complete the game and given to you as a reward for completing a mandatory task. The best examples are the swords used in each Legend of Zelda game. You always begin with a basic sword that is upgraded as the game progresses. In many Legend of Zelda games, the “upgraded sword” is the Master Sword, a sword imbued with magical properties that make it capable of injuring evil creatures an ordinary sword could not harm.

I love the idea of the upgrade system for LOZ games but skyward sword did a terrible job of implementing it.. It was too simplistic & felt like it was a cheap add in.. If done properly, it will make a fine addition to the zelda formula.. The whole shield being able to break thing sucks but the master shield was unbreakable at least.. I cant wait to see how wii u makes zelda but being that a 3DS version isnt anywhere in sight, it may be a while

OOT also had the burning Deku shield. You could even lose your Hyrule shield to a like-like. It was no different.

Finished this game without a shield...eh...so..yeah

i think the upgrade system was balanced and quite good, like using your shield to block attacks required some skill, if it was too hard you could get your shield upgraded, upgrading the beetle so it could corner better again a good idea, Zelda is not an RPG which is why in this day and age makes it so special, i dont want to see zelda turn into those RPGs that are about constantly upgrading every thing.

Thing I want in Next Legend of Zelda:

Game needs to take a leap like it did with Ocarina 64.

* Let us recruit people to help in the story. 3 NPC's..If I recruit A..I don't ever get to use B, but they are part of the later story. If I choose B, then I don't get to use A.

- This would ad TRUE replay value to this game as the story would unfold differently depending on who was your partner in game.

* ADD More RPG to the game. Let us level up/ rank up a bit, but along side the game so it flows naturally.

* Let me purchase different swords within the game. Like 20-30 different swords and slingshots and boomarangs.

* Open world has to be at least..............3 times as big!

* More Towns.....The towns in the games are maybe the best part.

* Less Dungeons. - I know people won't like this but it's needed.

- I'd rather do quests above ground in Hyrule than spend hours in some confusing dungeon that just frustrates me.

* More Side Quests - Have them be meaningful to the story, or have them help progression and how the story unfolds.

* POST GAME - I want to beat the game. And then still be able to run around and do 50+ quests.

How about the original Legend of Zelda remade with the Echoes of Wisdom engine. Maybe throw in added dungeons, or expand the map to make the game longer than the original.

A Zelda 1 remake would be great, but not with the Echoes of Wisdom art style. I find it unappealing.

I'd even suggest a Link to the Past as well. Would love a more modern HD look using the Links Awakening / Echoes engine.

I would like Twilight Princess HD for Switch or Switch 2.

A movie trailer, or nothing if Mario's was anything to go by

Link Should Talk, but Choose His Words Carefully in The Legend of Zelda Movie

Link should have a voice in The Legend of Zelda Movie. While he mostly stays quiet in the games, he canonically does speak but usually holds back on expressing his thoughts. In a movie format, it is better for the character and the story itself that Link speaks.

I just hope it's not a bunch MCU Snarky McJokeface dialog. Started playing veilguard free on PSN (would not recommend) and it's a perfect example of how dialog in contemporary entertainment is garbage.

It's gonna be Chris Pratt again lol

I'd love a Zelda 2 remake/redo.
