
Right or wrong, games with mature content were marketed towards kids when Mortal Kombat was originally released, that’s the way things were back then. Even when they weren't, kids were experts at getting their parents to allow them access to games with violent or unsuitable content. It’s just a game after all, right?
Of course, looking back now, the game was so incredibly childish that it bordered on parody. There was a certain comedy that young gamers just didn't get when they were young and stupid.
This didn't stop kids thinking they were oh-so-grown-up by accessing this content that only appealed to them on the most primitive level.

A brutal reset, a smarter story, and a return to what made it great—Mortal Kombat (2011) revived the series.
15 years went by so fast. I remember playing through the story mode at launch.

I do hope the next MK iteration goes back to the core of what made these characters appeal in the first place. A few of them lost their edge - I think I've had enough with some of the auntie designs 😂
