I'm waiting to by the game, with Bethesda's track record I'm waiting till they drop the price, and have patches to fix whatever is broken

DigitalAnalog4960d ago (Edited 4960d ago )

Relax, Bethesda is just publishing the game. I've played it on steam with no problems. The standard UE3 pop-ops for every loading screen is pretty much the norm by now. Just finished the game and it really makes you want to replay the game to try different approaches. Hopefully the reviews would give them the sales deserved for them to start bigger and better projects.

Sucitta4960d ago

have you seen honey boo boo? please watch and enlighten yourself to the average Joe/Voter..

TopDudeMan4960d ago

I just ordered the pc version from amazon for £24.99 and after reading some reviews, that seems like a bargain.

mynameisEvil4960d ago

That's a damn good bargain. Oh, and this is a case of which the PC version is even more amazing. Aside from using hotkeys, which makes things a lot easier, the performance of this game on PC is outstanding. I have 100+ framerates consistently. Ah, now if only Bethesda themselves could make ports as great as Arkane does.

bumnut4960d ago

@ mynameisevil

The performance is outstanding because the graphics are poor.

Good game though

adorie4960d ago

The graphics aren't poor. I don't know why people keep saying that.

They're fine. They're not cutting edge, but they look really nice.

Myscreen can't handle the FPS I get so I have to lock it down with Vsync, without Vsync I can hit over 130 FPS, easily. It is a UE3 game, after all.

As for texture pops, only after loading and is too fast to notice, most of the time.

stuntman_mike4959d ago

@topdudeman

you could of gotten it for £22.50 on greenmangaming with thier 25% off.

it's an awesome game, i'm taking my time with it.

It's an incredible game, and I haven't encountered any bugs in my 15+ hours with it. There is a big difference between publisher and developer.

finbars754960d ago

I agree i havnt encountered any bugs either on the ps3.The game is awsome and worth every penny.Guys dont be cheap on this one you are getting what you pay for.Just remeber Bethesda didnt make the game they published it Arkane developed the game who were part of the original Bioshock team.Love the art direction and gameplay mechanics so smooth.

Cam9774960d ago

As stated by DigitalAnalog, Bethesda are the publisher and not the developer therefore; the game won't have what makes them infamous.

Adexus4960d ago

One of the few games that actually deserves a sequel and there's uncertainty? :(

byeGollum4960d ago (Edited 4960d ago )

Why must almost every game have a sequel? There's enough as it is...

XB1_PS44960d ago

You're right, just give us DLC for the next 5 years, then we'll be happy. /s

paddystan4960d ago

A game should not get a sequel because it's refreshing, good and sells good. For example, none of the endings in Dishonored "wants" a sequel. The entire story ends there. There are no sign og a sequel in the ending. If there will be a sequel, then it's for the money.

Trenta274959d ago

I agree with you on this. The ending showed nothing about a sequel at all, at least not with Corvo. I want to know more about this world, but that's something DLC can accomplish.

wallis4960d ago

It's good that a sequel isn't immediately obvious simply because of success. I like that to them the idea of beating something to death just because it works isn't the reason they're making games and that's great - the problem is that I really like Dunwall. As a game setting it's awesome and I'd hate not to see more of the different cities and other nations. Personally I'd just as happily see the setting open up to other genres or entries. You can revisit a world without making a sequel - so that might be cool.

beerkeg4960d ago

Yeah it has a great setting, I'd love to see more of it. But I respect his attitude, he's not looking at making a franchise out of it, so if that's the end of it so be it.

But I would love a sequel.

MattyG4960d ago

I just hope they don't pull a Bioshock and make a sequel that doesn't live up to it's predecessor.

One of my biggest art heroes. His work and vision were truly one of a kind, and he’s been a huge inspiration to my own work. Such a heartbreaking loss.

Deeeeznuuuts450d ago

Remember seeing Dishonored for the first time when it released, fell in love with the art style straight away, so striking! And because of it, still holds up and will for years to come, RIP Viktor

JEECE449d ago

Yep I remember seeing some of the earliest concept art for Dishonored and hearing that the art director of Half-Life 2 was working on it and being excited.

And you are absolutely right, each of those games (HL2 and Dishonored) has a distinct art style that stands the test of time.

Relientk77450d ago

So sad to hear this. I absolutely love the Dishonored series and love the world and art style. It looks great and unique. I'm still hoping for a Dishonored 3

rokos449d ago

RIP Viktor love your work

Ethereal449d ago

Damn... Dishonored has such amazing art. RIP.

Arkane Co-Founder Says Dishonored and Prey Fans 'Will Be Happy' With His Next Game

WolfEye Studios president and co-founder of Arkane Studios Raphaël Colantonio has said Dishonored and Prey fans “will be happy” with his new studio's next game.

Marcus Fenix643d ago

Can’t wait to see what they’re working on

Relientk77643d ago

If it's something like Dishonored, then I am totally here for it.

TheNamelessOne643d ago

Let's hope. Their first game, Weird West, really wasn't my thing.

Miacosa642d ago

Ouch, already placing a sales cap on this is potentially bad as these games never seem to sell all too well. Hopefully the budget is in check so no one gets laid off after launch.

Psychonaut85642d ago

Fuck yeah. Even if it’s just a spiritual successor I want more titles like Dishonored in terms of art style, design and gameplay

Avowed's director says they "don't believe in living in fear" after Microsoft closed studios

"As a developer - and as a player - it's always sad and it always sucks to see studios close and devs lose their jobs. I really hope all those people land on their feet, because I know our indusutry is better with them in it," Patel tells the outlet. "As for me and how I look at things, I guess first and foremost: I don't believe in living in fear," the Avowed director.

They better worry because Avowed doesn't look all that.
