How Chrono Trigger Almost Killed its Composer

Chrono Trigger is quite simply one of the finest games ever made and has received more positive reviews and accolades from critics than a Shoreshank redemption sequel starring the ghost of Heath Ledger. One aspect of the game that has been repeatedly noted by both fans and critics is the soundtrack, which is so iconic and so memorable that it actually has its own Wikipedia page which scientists assert is as popular as something can possible be. But did you know that the two hours of music we got out of the game literally almost killed the guy tasked with creating it?

this is the reason why "gamers" need to be more informative about the details of game development. It's not easy task, but the attitude of gamers simply doesn't show they appreciate knowing the facts. They buy games to play and that's as far as it goes. Internet has become larger than ever, but they just spend most of their times looking at useless information.

Yet at the same time devs don't have and shouldn't be given carte blanche in what they do. Nevermind that this is about a music composer in regards to an iconic title.

If someone goes through hell for something that turns out to be bad, that person has my sympathies, but I'm still going to call crap crap.

it's not a matter of sympathizing for the people involved, but it's about recognizing the developers behind the game. People just think about the damn publisher. "Oh, it's a Capcom game?" or "it's resident evil 8, cool!" Like who gives a fcuk about Kamiya or Mikami type of attitude. Gamers do not think that's important to know, while they give a fcuk about other "developers."

Square Enix dont make music like this anymore.

And no ***** were given cause something as good would probably be composed.

CrescentFang4945d ago

tbh this was already well known if you just looked up Yausnori Mitsuda (amazing composer). I was surprised by his work in Kid Icarus Uprising

A remake or even a modern port would do since it is one of the best games all time. Can’t believe it’s been 30 years since I first played it

Azurite179d ago

It's on Steam, don't think they'll have another port unless it's a remake.

Yasunori Mitsuda is a talented composer I love the music both from Chrono Trigger, Xenogears. I will always enjoy Nobuo Uematsu as well. I would love to have seen the Chrono Trigger concert live.
