Resident Evil 6 Review - BuzzFocus

Over delivering can sometimes come at a cost as proven in Resident Evil 6. Three separate character arcs, plus a fourth unlockable story, may sound like a robust gaming experience. Sadly, theory and practicality lead to a muddle of gameplay snafus in the latest Resident Evil. There’s just so much story potential here that it’s a shame it’s all wasted on the cheesy story intersections.

Really don't know why people are being so harsh on this game.. I'm loving it for what it is instead of despising it for what its not.. I'm having fun with it and thats all that matters.. From a technical standpoint the game has very few flaws. From a story standpoint I love the intersecting campaigns.. I think it adds weight and believability to the story..

There seems to be a lot of different opinions on this game.
If your're enjoying it then good for you but I think it's awful to be honest.
I've said this before and I'll say it again I thought Jim Stirling said it best "Resident Evil 6 is a coward of a game".
It takes no risks what so ever and has gone for the most generic mainstream direction it could possibly go.
It's sole purpose for being made was to sell as much as possible no matter what that did to the brand name or integrity of the franchise.

The way i'd describe it is, it's trying desperately hardl compete with and appeal to the western market, but it's still quintisentially (I think that's right) Japanese which leaves it feeling bizarre.

It's like they couldn't let go of some aspects and go for the full on western TPS (which was clearly their goal) ala Gears and Uncharted, and because of that the game is stuck in no mans land.

Honestly, my two biggest complaints are the camera and how jarring the cutscenes are. The frequency isn't bothering me. The fact that they cut away so abruptly and without finesse is. They should be seemless like in MGS4 or Uncharted. Not showing a black screen before they play.

And I started with Chris's campaign. Crazy, I know.

Currently it's screaming 6 at me.

I want to add that whilst I agree with a lot of what Jim Stirling said in his review I think that rage had been brewing for a while and just poured out when he played RE6. I consider him to be the Jeremy Clarkson of the gaming world. I agree with a lot of what he says, but, overall I don't necessarily agree with him.

it is made for normal people who doesn't play a lot because they are more then the real gamers that want challenge and something special , so it's all about market ...

i for one enjoy it as a normal game , that's it , nothing special in it , a lots of problems but i can avoid these problems in any game , that's why im accepting it ..

but if i were looking at it as a resident evil game , i would have burned it instead of letting someone else play it even if he want to pay more then 10 times then the original price , i don't want a fan suffer the disappointment , compared to the other resident evil games even the fifth one , it's worst then garbage , it is an insult to fans , especially how the developers are defending it and saying it's horror ..

Don't get me wrong I loved the classic survival horror elments of the first two resident evil games but I have evolved as a gamer and it's rare that game ips evolve with its audience.. The ones that do are the ones that survive.. Instead of resenting the fact that its not like the first two games I'm enjoying it for what it does well and thats action.. I would love to see a new aged, back to its roots resident evil but that doesn't detract from my enjoyment of this game..

The game sucked, I played leons campaign and it was good but only like the first 2 or 3 chapters, the rest of leons campaign was compossed of ACTION....WTF...so about 10-18% of the game was awesome, the rest tanked.

what a bad game, boring and too much action,

maddfoxx4990d ago

RE6 is an awesome game. Yes it has a lot of action, but the series has stepped away from its survival horror roots when RE3 was released. The bosses in this game are amazing and so far its a lot better than RE5.

StifflerK4990d ago

Agreed, I'm about half way through the story mode ( I've finished Leon and Chris) and I think it's a great game.

The new Res Evil movie (Damnation) is really good also.

Chris's campaign ending :'((, fitted perfectly thu, and i kinda saw it coming, really enjoyed his campaign, now on to Leon's

maddfoxx4990d ago

I didn't like Chris's campaign as much as Leon's, but I think the ending was excellent. The game does have its problems, but what game doesn't? Seriously, a half finished glitch fest like Skyrim and Assassins Creed (the first one) get perfect scores, but this game, which have minimal problems, is getting below average scores.

NovusTerminus4990d ago

I loved the game, but Chris and Leon had the best Campaigns. I liked Jake and Sherry's story, but their missions were kinda eh... Not horrible, but not great.

And Ada's was HORRIBLE! That was one of the most dreadful things I have had to do in gaming this year!

Oh….wow, RE6 huh….urm, cool, just what we always wanted.

NOOOOOOOOOO
In what mind make sense to do this with the worse game on the series 🤦🏿

DivineHand125500d ago

I loved Resident Evil 4 back in the day and enjoyed Resident Evil 5 even though I had to do co-op to beat the final boss. Shiva was just too dumb.

Resident Evil 6 on the other hand, was so bad that I stopped playing after an hour in the game. That was before I even played any high-quality single-player games outside of Mass Effect, Portal, and Skyrim. I can't imagine playing RE6 now.

Chances are their next remake will be 5.

Profchaos500d ago

I just don't get why it's already on the platforms via BC unless it's a remake which would piss everyone off as fans are hoping for either the original game or code veronica to get the remake treatment

CrimsonWing69500d ago

Isn’t it already backwards compatible?

Yeah I figured it would be ordered like this. For me Leons best game was his debut. RE2.
