This Is Why the Pokemon Series Hasn't Evolved

Game Rant's Riley Little writes, "The Pokemon franchise has been around for over 14 years and yet every new version still manages to be a runaway success for Nintendo. The upcoming Pokemon Black 2 and Pokemon White 2 have already sold gangbusters in Japan (moving over 1.6 million units the first two days it was on store shelves), and its popularity doesn’t appear to be going away anytime soon. Still, even after all these years, many fans believe the series may be growing stale, and that it’s time for some change."

Honestly, I believe its because People love the formula of the rpg so much that 1 slight change might just break the franchise, but they should test some new waters

MySwordIsHeavenly5008d ago

You obviously haven't played Pokemon since Blue/Red.

TreMillz5008d ago

no actually it wasnt since ruby, but close enough

HarryMasonHerpderp5008d ago

We need a proper 3D pokemon game.

dark-hollow5008d ago (Edited 5008d ago )

With the 3ds hardware, there is zero excuse for not making the next pokemon game in full 3d world.

I think its a given after seeing the 3d pokedex app for 3ds, they might use these models for the next game.

They should keep the style of the portable Pokemon games the same. Sprites/bird's eye view and all that stuff.

But either Gamefreak or another worthy dev team should make a full 3D Pokemon game.

His logic isn't retarded. Saying sprites is their favorite art style doesn't mean they won't try something new. THAT logic is retarded.

@hitenlatenriten

99% seems like a stretch. Just because pokemon fans are content with sprites doesn't mean they wouldn't welcome a change in style. It actually appears to be the most requested change to be made to the series. Nintendo and Game Freak already has the basics in place with the N64, Gamecube, Wii as well as the 3D pokedex. There's no reason not to do it anymore when the hardware allows it.

The franchise won't die just because Nintendo decided to change things up with one 3D release to gauge reactions.

I honestly feel like pokemon has changed too much since red and blue. yeah it's got the core formula but they have added in so many new rules and changed things it dosen't feel the same. Still great games.

LordHiggens5008d ago

Pokemon in and of its entirety should be wiped from the face of existence. The game hasn't changed in 14 years and still manages to get awesome reviews...it's like NASCAR...

I bet you they're going to make another left turn....yup....I was right.

Not to mention the monsters look stupid the world looks stupid and just everything about the game from a style standpoint is bland and boring. Now haters hate away...just had to vent and wonder why people still love this series/game.

U.S. patent examiner rejects Nintendo’s summoning characters patent as obvious: non-final ruling

The rejection is non-final (and even when such rejections are labeled as “final”, the process is far from over, given that there can be, at minimum, an appeal to the Federal Circuit).

Good, as they should! A game mechanic like that shouldn't be locked behind a patent, and Nintendo didn't invent it either.

PRIMORDUS81d ago (Edited 81d ago )

Nintendo wants to keep wasting money on bullshit lawsuits, real smart in this economy. They should put that money aside for other game projects. On the other hand, I don't care if they waste it all either, and they are screwed in the future maybe that will teach them a lesson.

I enjoyed both Rush games, I did think the action was sometimes too fast to see what was coming up in terms of hazards though, which meant replaying the same stage a bunch of times, other than that they were enjoyable, good special stages, 3D sections and bosses for the most part.

DS is one of the best consoles of all time. Such a rich library of software
Zelda were all glorious on it.
