IGN- Pokemon Black Version 2 Review

Don’t underestimate Pokémon Black Version 2. Rather than just a slightly expanded repackaging of the latest generation’s core titles (a la Pokémon Yellow, Crystal, Emerald or Platinum), this direct sequel breaks the Pokémon mid-generation mold by offering a brand new adventure in the Unova region. What you might expect is more of the same - and for the most part, that’s what you get. Considering the caliber of what came before, this certainly isn’t a bad thing - but Black 2 manages to complement this “same” with some truly apt refinements and a stunning amount of fresh content. The final result is a game that features some of the most cinematic moments the franchise has ever seen, and the most fully realized Pokémon game to ever make use of the DS hardware

Wow - this is a great, great score. Glad this game is shaping up to be another good Pokemon experience.

Very nice score, even more excited to play these games now.

I was not aware that IGN went back to the 100 point scale. Guess they realized that giving every game an 8.5 was getting repetitive.

My last experience with a Pokemon game was red/blue, but unfortunately they were stolen from me as a kid during recess. Took me a while ta gt over that. But because I remember having a great time with these games, I want to get back into Pokemon. I'm tryin to decide if I should buy a 3DS and buy this...or just wait for the inevitable Pokemon 3DS bundle pack.

I'm old and I'm not bashing Pokemon but when it first hit U. S. I was always under the impression that it was aimed at younger teens (10-14yr olds) Was my assumption wrong or is it kind of a good-for-every-age thing?

Like I said I'm old.. Old gamer.. Just wondering.

I am an old gamer too, 33 years old to be exact, but I still enjoy Pokemon games to this day. I believe you might like these games if you seriously try them and invest time and effort, especially if you like RPGs in general.

I kinda wish they would have made this a 3ds game, but i guess it means there will be more people online this time around, but i can't wait for full 3d battles :)

Honestly don't know why these games score so high. I have my little brother playing all the pokemon games all the time a big fan and honestly see no difference. As far as gameplay wise is concerned it is the same generic stuff. Same game different name and different pokemon.

TheLyonKing4979d ago

Poor IGN, I find Gametailers scored it too high and it was in the 7's.
If you watch teh gametrailers review you can see why this game doesn't merit a 9.6, I know it is opinions but I think this guys opinion was very much based on his love on the B&W universe

not a bad score, only thing i like about this game is that i can catch eevee in the wild!

The Worse Pokémon Game

Written by Aaron Daniels - Pokemon games are like flavours of crisp; everybody has a favourite and least favourite, there’s absolutely no consensus on which is best or worst, and debates on the subject get more heated than a McDonald’s Apple Pie on the surface of the sun. Unlike crisps however, where everybody who chooses cheese and onion over anything else is clearly on hallucinogens and requires an intervention from their friends and family, there’s at least some wiggle room for appreciating every Pokemon game on their own merits.
