4Player-"Reviews for Resident Evil 6 have hit the net today and things aren't looking good for the iconic survival-horror series. Having eschewed pretty much everything that makes it both 'survival' and 'horror' it seems like the series has not only done a disservice to itself, but a disservice to the genera that it helped to spawn. I have a myriad of thoughts on this but my main questions now is....is Silent Hill the last great survival horror game?"

GOG appears to be teasing potential re-releases of Konami's survival horror game, Silent Hill, and Xbox Game Studios' Halo: Combat Evolved.
It's crazy to think that GOG will have Silent Hill 1/2/4, Dino Crisis 2, and Resident Evil 2/3 before the PSN. What the actual fudge is Sony even doing over there?
I will probably pick up Silent Hill 1 right away if GOG gets it, I grabbed BOF4 as soon as it was released, haven't picked up Dino Crisis yet since I already bought it on PS.

Keiichiro Toyama—the creator and original director of the 1999 Silent Hill—shared his personal thoughts on the recently announced remake by Konami, reflecting on what the project means to him after more than two decades:
“I felt something similar when the game was adapted into a movie. It deeply moved me to see the names of the characters and locations I had created come to life visually, even though I wasn’t directly involved. That wouldn’t have been possible without the continued support of the fans and the dedication of the developers who’ve kept the series alive.
I’m really looking forward to seeing how the remake evolves this time. With the advanced technology we now have, I’m sure I’ll be surprised by how the game is reimagined. Since the original was built for the first PlayStation, there will naturally be challenges—like the camera and controls—but I’m eager to see bold and creative solutions to those elements.”
Haha Not only is bold and creatively not what the industry wants, it’s not what most people want.
They want to get scammed and pay twice for a thing they already own.
Was the SH2 remake even bold? Or was it more or less just a 1 to 1 over the shoulder remake?

A new rating of Resident Evil 6 for Xbox has been spotted, which could suggest that it's getting a current gen port for Xbox Series X/S and PS5.
I loved Resident Evil 4 back in the day and enjoyed Resident Evil 5 even though I had to do co-op to beat the final boss. Shiva was just too dumb.
Resident Evil 6 on the other hand, was so bad that I stopped playing after an hour in the game. That was before I even played any high-quality single-player games outside of Mass Effect, Portal, and Skyrim. I can't imagine playing RE6 now.
Chances are their next remake will be 5.
I just don't get why it's already on the platforms via BC unless it's a remake which would piss everyone off as fans are hoping for either the original game or code veronica to get the remake treatment
How exactly is Silent Hill the last great survival horror game, when the latest entry in the franchise got even lower scores than RE6, both are no where near what they used to be, Silent Hill 2, and RE Code Veronica, these were the golden days
I would say Dead Space but after all the stuff we've seen for Dead Space 3, the fact EA always ruins developers games by making them action base and generic and the fact it's doing all the things which lead to RE downfall....well....I think survival horror is dead, maybe Zwei will change that though
I'd like to see a new, old school SH game. I loved 2, it really creeped me out. I could see it making a comeback.
The Last Of Us will solve this survivor horror genre problem.
Capcom can still do it. Just look at Resident Evil Revelations.
