Resident Evil 6 Review | Destructoid

Jim Sterling writes: At first, things look bleak. Is this what Capcom's legendary survival horror series has become? A bubbling mass of cliches, a tribute to everything vapid and faintly ridiculous about so-called "AAA" game development? Nothing but shallow Hollywood action sequences and glorified, barely interactive cutscenes? Is this Resident Evil now? That's merely what it looks like when you first start playing. The full experience is something slightly less appealing than that.

No suprise here...

Played the demo, didn't like it much. No buy for me.

Blastoise4983d ago

Same. The demo instantly started alarm bells ringing. So many flaws.

Love how they got Jim to review it lol

If theres a guy who would honestly slam a game if needed it would be Jim

I don't agree with everything the guy says, but when it comes to things like this in the industry which need to be adressed he has the balls to do it.

I mean you wouldn't see him giving it a 7 even though he thinks it deserves lower because he wants to give Capcom the benefit of the doubt.

MmaFan-Qc4983d ago

yeah, the game is average, BUT, jim is being the same old sensationalist jerkbag he usually is.

all his reviews should be avoided like plague, he's always trying too hard wich end up being 1% review material and 99% pissing contest with himself.

Jim reviewing this game is a sound event.

I only played Leons demo. Started Chris's but turned it off after about a minute. I'm so disappointed with Capcom. Take Resi a different direction sure, but at least make sure the mechanics work! The camera, aiming, the inventory system all threw me off this game and it feels so far evolved from previous Resi games that I couldn't care less about buying it at the moment.

The only way to protest against developers doing shitty jobs is to not buy their game.

Admittedly, I don't usually agree with Destructoid reviews, but this one's an exception. All the flaws Mr Sterling mentions I too have experienced, from the awkward camera angles and iffy melee combat to the annoying QTEs and ridiculous control scheme - and don't get me started on the fact your character is constantly tripping over fallen foes!

I shall be skipping future RE games if they're anything like this one.

told me everything I needed to know.

Grap4983d ago

i am so sad that i waste my bandwidth on downloading the demo.

As a huge RE fan, I am really enjoying these scores. Keep them coming.....Capcom needs to wake up and bring the game back to it's roots

EW
NOOOOOOOOOO
In what mind make sense to do this with the worse game on the series 🤦🏿

DivineHand125489d ago

I loved Resident Evil 4 back in the day and enjoyed Resident Evil 5 even though I had to do co-op to beat the final boss. Shiva was just too dumb.

Resident Evil 6 on the other hand, was so bad that I stopped playing after an hour in the game. That was before I even played any high-quality single-player games outside of Mass Effect, Portal, and Skyrim. I can't imagine playing RE6 now.

Chances are their next remake will be 5.

Profchaos489d ago

I just don't get why it's already on the platforms via BC unless it's a remake which would piss everyone off as fans are hoping for either the original game or code veronica to get the remake treatment

CrimsonWing69489d ago

Isn’t it already backwards compatible?

Yeah I figured it would be ordered like this. For me Leons best game was his debut. RE2.
