Everything boring except zombies say gamers

Video games that don’t feature zombies are shit, it has emerged.

A study conducted by Oxford University has revealed that video games featuring anything other than the shambling undead are met with complete indifference by modern gamers, with many actually becoming completely overwhelmed with boredom mere seconds after being exposed to non-zombie related content.

The research team also discovered that the question gamers were most likely to ask themselves when deciding whether to purchase a new video game was “can I kill zombies?” shortly followed by “is there a mod that will let me kill zombies?”

It's official. This gen is the crappiest one EVER in the history of gaming. Every game is boring if it doesn't have zombies in it? What type of dipsticks did you ask?

TheLeapist4985d ago

The whole article is a joke. This site is like the Onion if you've ever heard of that. I think it's decently humorous.

"By modern gamers"... WTF is a "modern gamer". I'm 35, still own all my consoles since the 2600 and currently game on every available console, PC and handheld... am I a "modern gamer". Maybe I'm too old to be considered a modern gamer? I have more experience gaming than the average gamer though, and I think zombies are the most played out go to bad guy in the video game industry at present. Do I hate zombies? No, but they are overused. But I guess I'm not a "modern gamer", so my opinion doesn't really matter. It's okay though... if a "modern gamer" is someone who can't get enough zombies, I'll stay old and useless to the gaming community while playing hundreds of different games.

@ proninjas

I never read it to begin with :D just the stuff at the top of the page. So is the Oxford study complete satire, or was there an actual study? Either way, I am sick of zombies.

I think you might need to re-read it. It's actually making the point that zombies are overused. I thought it was pretty obvious in its humor, hence I posted it

Zombies and FPS are the most boring genre this generation except Day Z and L4D :D.

Godmars2904986d ago (Edited 4986d ago )

Because all we've gotten are FPS!

It apparently being too expensive to develop stories and plot doesn't help either.

Allsystemgamer4985d ago (Edited 4985d ago )

It's not expensive to develop a plot. Get one good writer with a passion for what he does and hell have it done fast. People are just lazy.

Woa I just noticed I lost 2 bubbles wtf?

Godmars2904985d ago

Its expensive to structure gameplay around a story good or bad.

It was cheaper for Square to put in CG movies in FF13 than flying segments. Also cheaper for Bioware to shove ME3 out the door than use side-quest management elements from ME2.

1st person shooters/ DLC's/ zombies without horror

-current generation-

:(
I hope we will see more games like the last of us or heavy rain for the next gen ...

Games like CoD are so boring, dump and less innovative

beerkeg4985d ago

This generation has the most whiners. If you actually look at how many great games there have been you might be surprised how this generation has actually been a good one. A very good one.

There are negative sides to what's been introduced this gen, but the good far outweigh the bad.

This article is clearly a joke.

I don't agree with that. I WISH I could agree with that. But buying habits and customer opinions prove otherwise

We've seen developers in the AAA space try new things and ideas. More often than not, the customers aren't willing to give things a chance, or not enough people buy into the project for it to grow.

Creativity works better in the indie space because the budgets, pressures, and expectations aren't the same.

Scissorman35d ago

it's a nice idea and it worked during the PS2/PS3-era when AAA didn't cost hundreds of millions of dollars. smaller budgets and shorter development time left room for more creativity and more risk. a game didn't need to sell 4 million+ copies to break even. things are different now.

This is the guy who bragged about crunching his staff and having them work through the night. Crunch culture has lost more talent and done more damage to the industry than any other factor. Screw him.
