Five Reasons Why Monolith Soft Should Make a Zelda Game

GenGAME writes: "We know Monolith Soft, one of Nintendo’s first-party studios, most recently known for the highly-acclaimed large-scale RPG Xenoblade Chronicles, is working on some kind of Wii U project... Given Monolith’s pedigree for grand RPG adventures, however, I think the best use of their talents might actually involve one of Nintendo’s existing IPs: The Legend of Zelda."

Id rather they stick to their self-created series

legendoflex4995d ago (Edited 4995d ago )

I'd like them to make at least one game that sells beyond a very small demographic (see reason #4). Otherwise, yeah, I'd be pretty fine with them sticking to their niche.

Hisiru4995d ago

niche or not, Xenoblade and Soma Bringer are some of the best RPGs I played in my life.

jsslifelike4995d ago

A Baten Kaitos sequel with your entire deck on the touchscreen? I'll take that, thank you very much.

I still think that Nintendo should pitch a deal to buy Platinum from SEGA and, yes- start allowing these pseudo-second parties creative freedom on established IP.

I think they would do great on Zelda, but i would rather leave it to in house development at Nintendo. Nintendo already makes fantastic Zeldas games, and Monolith soft can focus on making a great new game and try to top Xenoblade. If the Wii U can get games like Xenoblade throughout the consoles life, then that is all good for me.

I'd rather they stick to making exclusive RPGs for Nintendo systems. Zelda is fine, Nintendo (hopefully) won't mess up the next one.

Dr_Salvitor4995d ago

NO! The only Nintendo studio i would trust besides the usual would be Retro.

guitarded774995d ago

Yeah, it's not that I don't like Monolith, but Zelda is just something too close to the hearts of gamers to be letting someone else handle it. At least Retro has experience with huge Nintendo franchises, and has proven that they can make a great Nintendo licensed game.

Crazy to think the WII is to the Switch 2, as the NES was to the WII back then. 20 Year difference.

jznrpg37d ago

My wife asks me to bust it out (heh) everyone once in a while to play bowling and tennis with the kids. There was a ton of slop on it but some good stuff as well.

Smellsforfree37d ago

Wii was great but boy howdy did it cause Microsoft to go on a dark walk with the Kinect and the disastrous XBox One launch that they arguably never recovered from.

Loktai36d ago

Not nostalgic for me.. I was there.. anyone who wasnt a little kid realized it was a gamecube with shit tacked onto it, it was the "joke" system and was well below even the switch in terms of comparing it to the latest machines at the time. The machine was well loved by young people and "casual gamers" who now remember it 20 years on, or in most cases more of its sales came in the 15-20 years ago range not right at launch- but again its not nostalgic for people who were "gamers" then really, just for those who ended up with one in their house, the games , graphics, interface and online features were archaic already in 2006.

How about the original Legend of Zelda remade with the Echoes of Wisdom engine. Maybe throw in added dungeons, or expand the map to make the game longer than the original.

meganick67d ago

A Zelda 1 remake would be great, but not with the Echoes of Wisdom art style. I find it unappealing.

Neonridr67d ago

I'd even suggest a Link to the Past as well. Would love a more modern HD look using the Links Awakening / Echoes engine.

jreeves8267d ago

I would like Twilight Princess HD for Switch or Switch 2.

A movie trailer, or nothing if Mario's was anything to go by
