GHN: Developer Renegade Kid describes Mutant Mudds as a “12-bit” platformer, but it is more than that. While the entire game feels reminiscent of the old school 8-bit characters, the backgrounds are indeed more like 16-bit design, featuring a parallax like effect with users being able to jump between the foreground, midground and background through out the game. Everything about this game will bring you back to the retro days from the style and music to the gameplay. But does the charm that the game initially have make it a good game? In short yes but lets dive into why.
Limited Run Games has announced Mutant Mudds and Yooka-Laylee tabletop games, both of which are available for pre-order until early September 2021.

Development studio Renegade Kid is shutting down after its two co-founders have decided to go their separate ways. They will both continue to develop games.
Very sad news, because they made some great games. I do have to wonder though if the closing has anything to do with them not making many games for systems other than Nintendo ones. Because sadly not many people have been buying games on Nintendo one recently.
