It was digitally "sold out", but not exactly. ArenaNet's servers are being jam-packed with players, so they had to limit sales. You can still buy the boxed game at retail sales. This is old news, actually.

Yup, four day old news. GW2 is likely the smoothest MMO launch in the history of the genre, and among the more populated ones. Heck, they had more preorders than TOR.

This article really shows the author is unfamiliar with the MMO genre.

I don't know about that, RIFT had a much smoother launch in my opinion.

That being said I have praised ANet for their handling of the situation in previous articles.

Yes, Rift's launch, complete with hours-long login queues, and constant restarts to increase server stability were sure signs of "smooth." I agree, that being said, it was one of the smoothest launches out there. GW2, however, not only had magnitudes more people, it had none of those issues. Further, there were more preorders for GW2 than Rift has ever had peak subscribers. The comparisons are not based on an even playing field.

So GW2 having a whole region (Europe) that had login issues never happened? There have been plenty of login issues with GW2 trust me.

I won't argue numbers, as I don't have any solid sources for either game, and I refuse to just pull something out of left field. But even if what you say is true, we should just give GW2 a pass? I'm sorry, I can't do that.

Nobody should be given a pass based on anything but actual performance. But to minimize one issue while exaggerating another...that speaks to the credibility of the site you blog for.

You brushed off larger issues with Rift, yet here proclaim to the world that there are "issues." Trust me, "news source" there aren't any, and you're lying to your readers.

I play on EU and haven't had login issues. Been playing since the 3 day headstart too.

I think a lot of the issues people have been having aren't region wide. They're issues that have affected some and not others.

This has been a good discussion, I wish there had been fewer attacks made at me, but that's the way things go.

I wish it could continue, but this is my last bubble. So before going I will say that I never brushed off issues RIFT had, I simply said that I felt RIFT had a smoother launch. It's my opinion, and obviously you have your own.

I am not lying to anyone, many people (including myself) have had issues with the launch, a simple look at the Guild Wars 2 twitter feed will show that. Heck the trade post has been down until just recently, people were having trouble with PvP, etc.

If you want to act like those things don't exist then you are at liberty to do so as your right, but that's not something I am willing to do.

Now I will go enjoy some GW2, cause it's an enjoyable game, its just had a few hiccups.

Oh and here are current issues ANet are working to fix (or have got working now) that, you know, aren't there.
