Mass Effect: an essential for Xbox 360

Tyler Waldman writes:

"A recent Fox News story misrepresenting one of the best games of 2007 got me thinking, 'Hey, wouldn't it be great if I spent an entire column singing the praises of Mass Effect?' So I will."

Indeed its fricking awesome

fjtorres6675d ago

Warping time and space for fun and profit can be very rewarding.
Like taking down a Colossus with a handgun.
Fifth playthrough so far and still learning new techniques and experiencing new dialogue. Your choices make a really big impact in what you experience.
Anybody who hasn't played this is missing out on a classic.
Expect a whole new wave of Mass Effect clones from second tier developers.

Mass Effect does have some deep game play, when you think you got it down a new strategy comes to mind. I will finaly get through my first playthrough when I get back from Florida. I had a power outage do to a storm and it corrupted my HD and some of my saved games so I had to start over and I was about 70% complete.

Look a phantom disagree'r, I wonder what camp they are from?

My personal GOTY as well, it replaced Baldur's Gate II as my favorite RPG of all time.

While XBOX Slaves continue to marvel and overlook the many deficiencies of Mass Defect, Dark Sniper will continue to enjoy the superior lineup of AAA exclusives only on PLAYSTATION® 3. Good luck, Mass Defect is just as defective as your console.

$niper

hahaha, that was actually funny. Sorry it really was.

"While XBOX fans continue to marvel at the beauty and the many gameplay features of Mass Effect, Dark Sniper (3rd place Lo$er) will continue to "wait" for the inferior lineup of AA 2nd rate exclusives only on PLAYSTATION® 3, and continue to buy the movies while the games get delayed over and over. Good luck, PS3 owners with your "movie player" console."

You're the saddest Excuse I've seen for a gamer in a long time. pull that PS3 controller from your @ss and go play some games instead of trollin

GOTY ?

i dont think so.

that went to Bioshock

bumnut6675d ago (Edited 6675d ago )

ME is not that great. bad framerate (usually in combat which is not good), bad texture pop in, very sparse environments with hardly any people to talk to, poor combat.

this game was seriously over rated. its not even a open game, there are lots of planets in the systems but usually you can only land on one, but you can read information about the others (boring)

and you can't even land on earth

imo, oblivion is way better

ME = yawn

EDIT: the guy above who says he is on his 5th play through needs a job and a social life

Lord_Ash6675d ago

I think ME is a great game (minus the few problems) but I agree that BioShock was Xbox 360 GOTY for 2007, I actually think Bioshock is the best Xbox 360 game up to now.

DarkSniper is the nemesis of Zhuk.

Zhuk and DarkSniper: The fantastic twins.

lol

Despite its flaws, Mass Effect is one of the finest I played all year. The fact that it adds in bits and pieces from different genres so well is amazing, as usually hybrid games like this usually fall short. Good Job Bioware. Still finishing up ME 1, but I can't wait until ME 2 is released.

Bioware writes: "Like you, we’ve heard the rumors lately. You’ve made it clear you care deeply about what’s next. So let’s start by setting the record straight: the next Mass Effect game is in development, and EA and BioWare remain committed to telling more stories in this universe."

I expected nothing and I'm still disappointed

Like with Fallout, it's starting to feel studios are using TV / Film adaptations when they have no game info to talk about.

toxic-inferno189d ago

I feel the same way.

I mean, how difficult would it be for them to release SOMETHING of substance? Another short trailer? A couple of proper hints? A short story set during the original trilogy, but focused on fringe characters?

Hopefully they're working so hard on the game that they don't have time. But still, with every passing year and so little to show, the franchise will be slipping further and further from people's minds.

Profchaos188d ago

Yeah agree it's almost a cop out since Dev times are 5 to 10 years just throw out a few seasons instead you get them done in a year

jznrpg189d ago

I still haven’t beat Andromeda. I am waiting for a lull of good games in my backlog

P_Bomb189d ago

So the TV show will take place after the OG trilogy. I wonder which ending they’ll use?

Rebel_Scum188d ago

Should’ve just posted a picture of an Elcor saying “regretfully, we have nothing to share.”

Good games but no Phantasy Star?

merlox1084d ago

Why do people forget Phantasy Star? That is one of my favorite RPG series. Another ther good but overlooked series is ,Y's.

anast1084d ago

ES3 set things off, it's a shame they got greedy and decided to cut corners so the executives could get huge pay days.
