Insider Gaming - "Ubisoft has cancelled yet another game, this time ending development on the Animal Crossing-inspired title Alterra."

HALIFAX (April 14, 2026) – Laid-off Ubisoft workers in Halifax have voted overwhelmingly in favour of a settlement with the video-game giant. The terms of the settlement, including the compensation employees will receive, is confidential.
I can't sit here and act like I know these workers financial situations. And I'm sure nobody wakes up WANTING to go to court. But for the sake of the industry, I wish some of these types of cases made it to trial.
Settlements allow companies to continue to do whatever abusive practices they do. While the trials (should the company lose) would actually force real changes for the better.
But again, I'm not in these workers shoes and I can understand them not wanting to risk it.

Two-day event includes exclusive reveals, trailers and playable games on show floor.
UbiSoft fu**ed up alot my favorite game franchises, i miss old Ubi.
Rayman - and Future soldier blurred into one me like
You just described a TON of games. So don't point fingers strictly at Ubisoft. They're not the only ones making games with all these features.
Yes it's true, Ghost Recon used to be long distance outdoor assaults compared to RS' breaching, but it was not sexy enough so they shortened distances and made it more in your face.
Splinter Cell feels a lot like Rainbow Six too now.
Which is funny since the first build of SCC might have been canned for looking too much like another game: Assassin's Creed.
But now we have WatchDogs, which is totally SC+AC.
AC had some PoP in its DNA too, but that's a different story since it really added a lot, like the non linear climbing, the historical elements and the sandbox.
EA had a similar problem, not sure if it still does. I swear Skate, Burnout, NFS, SSX, and like several of their other games where just the same thing dressed up a different way.
