Some of you might be familiar with the term "bullshot," or an obviously-doctored promo screenshot. Tech demos can go under similar scrutiny, since they're really just video demos that show what an engine is capable of, and can easily be confused for pre-rendered footage.
This is definitely not the case with Square-Enix's new Luminous Engine, which was previously shown off at E3 with the Agni's Philosophy tech demo. Attendees of development conference SIGGRAPH 2012 got to see a real-time demo of the Luminous Engine, showing some insane changes to small details, which can be made on the fly.

Jason Dietz: "We reveal the past year's best and worst video game publishers (based on their 2025 releases) in the 16th edition of our annual Game Publisher Rankings."
But... but... the garbage-mongers always tell us that Square Enix is in trouble! 😂

Square Enix announced its financial results for the first nine months of the fiscal year, related to the period between April and December 2025.

3D Investment Partners, a major shareholder of Square Enix, issued a 112-page presentation criticizing the company's 'sluggish' revenue and profit margins.
Waaah waaah our profits aren't big enough! I mean, they're still growing and all, but we want it faster and NOW! Waaaah!
Looks incredible.
They have the next generation engine and looks impressive, but the question is: If they announce a game for it, Will it come before the end of the gneration? Because the same thing happened with Final Fantasy Versus XIII. They announced the game, they said it will use their new Crystal Engine, and yet nowhere to be seen.
I just don't trust Square Enix at all anymore, and the engine means nothing if they will never utilize it properly with a GAME. They will surely announce either Final Fantasy XV and/or Kingdom Hearts 3 with that engine just to make us wait for forever to get the game.
That's amazing
People should be asking about actual flexibility. If everything is going to look shoddy or if the engine can properly represent multiple genres.
Fantastic engine!
