Why are gamers so entitled?

Pixels4Breakfast writes: It's a question I've asked myself many times before, but 2012 has truly been the year for irate gamers. I will never understand why the same gamers who plead for other industries to take us seriously, treat us like a mature form of entertainment, are the same gamers organising metacritic revolts and class action lawsuits because they don't like the ending to their favourite game.

Because we cough up $60 for a new game and up to $600 for new consoles. We've earned the right to be entitled.

Because this gen began with many promises of "new levels of gaming" and its become something dominated by FPS, DLC and DRM. There's also a notable lack of content from gens prior even accounting for DLC released the same day as the game.

I agree that getting just a bad ending to a game, doesn't give us the right to demand a new ending. As far as Diablo 3 goes with locking gamers out, Blizzard was completely out of line.

The DRM caused the issues with D3. Not the same as GW2.

We pay 60$ for a game on the promise that it will be good and when we say it isn't we are the ass****s?

This is the internet, why all of a sudden are people surprised that crazy people are using it? Anyone with half a brain knew a lawsuit against EA wasn't ever going to happen. Why do people insist on treating like a "landmark" event? Why paint others with the actions of a very few? Seems a bit ignorant to me.

Game developers exist for one reason: to provide entertainment for a price. Its not a charity. As long as we are paying (renting more like) and getting shafted with DRM (cause you know all PC gamers are criminal scum),we have every right to raise hell. Vocally, not physically.

This industry can't even take its own customers seriously, so getting others to take the industry seriously is a long way off IMO.
