Final Fantasy VII Comparison: Playstation Vs PC

So KOtv put up a video the other day showing the first sixteen minutes of the re-release of Final Fantasy VII for PC and I got a couple requests to make a comparison video between the Playstation 1 version and the re-release.

You all asked and KOtv delivers! This video compares similar scenes in both games. Somehow I pretty much got all the same battles running through in both versions of the game!

The ultimate question here is…. Which version is better? I will let the readers decide! Leave a comment here, on my YouTube channel, or both on which you prefer!

Anti Aliasing and the character models benefit from being rendered at a higher resolution on the PC, other than that its the exact same.

On a side note, he's running it on the PS3 not PS1

The audio quality is better, either that or it sounds different that's for sure and there are more enemies on screen it seems. The victory fanfare is different for the pc as well but it might be possible to change it. So it is a bit different but still a great game to play on any platform.

It sounds to me like they may have replaced all the songs with arranged versions and not the midi versions the original version had which is good as it sounds alot better. Although I have to admit they lack a certain charm the original version had.

Pretty much the same case as metal gear solid 1 & 2 , you can't really go wrong with either version other than a slight edge with smoother graphics , i still ended up with both versions lol.

I get no enjoyment playing these games on PC, my black label PlayStation Final Fantasy VII is something I am very proud to own. A few years ago I downloaded an emulator to play Secret of Evermore on PC, played a few minutes and immediately deleted it from my computer. PC gives you no sense of NosTalgia.

You could hook up a DS3 to a pc to bring back more nostalgia. Speaking of nostalgia that PS and Squaresoft logo brings back memories. Also the PS chime you would hear, especially after trying to get a scratched up game to play lol. And the video shows a good comparison of the two.

Nostalgia: And that is awesome that you have a FF7 PSX. You should put up some pics of it I would want to see it. If only FF7 was remade like that intro sequence shown for the Ps3.

Wanted to add the PSX chime intro http://www.youtube.com/watc... man it still sounds great even to this day.

Putting the disc into the actual system, turning it on and playing it with the controller is an experience that cannot be replicated by mere emulation on PC. Sorry, I agree with -NosTalgia-.

I have both ff7 and ff8 original games from the day of release sitting next to my working playstation i got on release and they all work perfectly still , i love putting them on an old crt tv and playing them brings back memories :)

Wish I had an old crt tv lying around , older consoles don't look so good on newer tvs.

I’d love to know how many units have been sold of all the Final Fantasy VII franchise games, including the original, the remakes, spin offs such as Crisis Core, and mobile games Ever Crisis. I bet a fair few copies.

Modern day publisher be like: "Failed to meet sales expectations. Pivoting to live service."

It's an absolute legend of a game. And I honestly really love how the remake trilogy is shaping up so far.

If you already own it... There, I saved you the click on a deliberately misleading article.

DivineHand12528d ago

I bought the game yesterday on steam for $4 because Square Enix is trying to replace it with a version that has no mod support.

Prior to yesterday, I had no idea the game had so many great mods until people started making a fuss out of it.

Knightofelemia28d ago

I wish Square would port other old games to newer systems I want Xenogears.

gold_drake28d ago
