I used to play multiplayer but after a while I found that you just need to find one way to play the map to win. Stick to that and it's an almost guarantied victory, wich makes MP very boring.
Best gaming experiences for me always come out of the single player, I haven't bothered with getting a Live account for my xbox in years.

Nope they don't need multiplayer, but they do need a way to extend their value. Panzer Dragoon Orta is one of my favorite examples. It's exclusively single player but the overwhelming amount of unlockables that game had to offer kept you playing at least twice as long as the length of the main game.

You can't just have a game be a 6-8 hour story mode and then end. You need a way to extend the life of it whether it be through appropriately-implemented multiplayer, extra game modes, new game plus, unlockables, etc.

It depends on the game

If the good single player game was short, like 5hrs short, then yes it needs a multiplayer to add more value to the package. Vanquish is one example. The game was too short and the fast paced gameplay if done right would've been awesome in a multiplayer mode.

I rather have online/offline co ops. We need more of those mode in some of this gen awesome IP.

We need more games like Demon's Souls, they reinvented mp in 2009.

And today I was reading that apparently they were going to do a DS2 Remake, but weren't happy enough with the first game's remake to continue. I was really hoping to see them actually make a new game to finish off the story of the franchise.

So reading the article it doesn’t seem to rule out the possibility of a Dead Space 2 remake at some point. It’s saying that the rumour that it was already in development and was shelved because of poor sales is incorrect. EA Motive immediately started working on something else. So I read that as them actually confirming that it’s not entirely off the table.
