Destructoid Review: Rainbow Moon

Destructoid- Tactical role-playing games gained a more mainstream momentum with titles such as Final Fantasy Tactics and Fire Emblem on the Nintendo DS due to their bright, friendly graphics and user friendliness.

After more notable hardcore strategy RPGs came onto the scene, the whole genre (along with most traditional Japanese RPGs) abruptly got neglected in favor of the new influx of Western RPGs that often includes a focus on action-oriented gameplay and flashier graphics.

In this new climate, it's a bit unusual to find Rainbow Moon as a recent addition on the PlayStation Network, as the game sits firmly within the traditional constraints of early SRGPs. Despite its vast universe and diverse customization options, Rainbow Moon fails to make a splash in a genre that deserves a much-needed revival.

Man what a crap review. Go read it if ya want but the guy doesn't really like the genre so I don't know why he was stuck reviewing it. Plus it came out a month ago.

So basically if you don't like srpgs, you probably shouldn't review this title.

He also compared it to an iOS game. What?!

I have an iPad and there is not any iOS RPGs like this on it, so I really don't know what the hell he's talking about.

Bad review, destructiod, it wont be the last one and that's for sure.

Opinions are good and all but destructiod is always mucking up because their reviews do not reflect the general populace.

It's almost like they do it for page hits.

Dude, it's Destructoid. That should explain why it is crap right there. But talk about a bunch of yellow journalists. They are easily one of the worst trolling sites for gaming. Kotaku occasionally outshines them (since it is more widely read).

Further, it "employs" that fat POS Jim Sterling. If I ever saw that fat slob I would knock him out, record it and say, "You got knocked the F-CK out!!!"

I just click on Destructoid articles to vote them down.

But just for fun, here is my review of your review:

Your Random Review of [Insert Game Title] for the [Insert Game System.] is trite. It is a poor example of critique. Your comments are wonky and your analysis is tacked on. It would be even more cliched had I not had to grind through all of the tacked on, random hype of your prowess as a reviewer. And since you have written a review before, it certainly doesn't live up to the standards previously set by your review of [insert other game title] for [insert favorite gaming system.]
I give your review a 0.13.
The Good: It was in English, barely.
The Bad: Cliched Terminology should be avoided like the plague.
The Ugly: Putting your photoshopped picture next to your review doesn't make you less of a tool. Being on Destructoid though makes you a complete asstool!

So can I ask which site do you actually trust if it said a PS3 game sucked?

GamerToons5024d ago

I'm not PS3 Biased at all.

I own a PC, 3DS, Vita and XBox 360.

Hell not to mention an iPad and iPhone.

Sooooo yeah. Nothing to do with PS3.

Chrono5025d ago

I think it could have been a better game if they used a different battle system.

Well i was expecting a lower score but i guess a 6 is ok from Destructoid.

There's also the sequel rainbow skies. Tbh injust assumed this was already on the switch. I enjoyed it for what it was. Never did finish it though. I had the ps4 physical edition.

Yea, story wasn't great, especially dialogue, but some of the battle tactics got quite fun at higher levels. Sadly, I think Rainbow Skies sunk Sidequest Studios bc it came out years later than originally promised, and Vita enthusiasm had already died by then. EastAsiaSoft still owns this though as a publisher, so I'm guessing they're trying to squeeze some more out of it. I'd recommend it for like $15, probably nothing above that. I liked it enough.

I assumed it was too when I wrote it up. Never finished it either as fun as it was.

Vita's Swansong is Coming - But What Will it Be?

VGChartz's Adam Cartwright: "Since its launch in 2011, the PlayStation Vita has continually soldiered on despite western AAA support drying up, its own manufacturer moving its efforts to the PS4, and constant internet doom-saying that the console is dead (which, judging by a recent sales leak of North American software, it effectively has been for a number of years). Yet it’s taken until 2018 for Sony to deal the final two death blows – announcing that both production of physical carts in the west and distribution of the hardware worldwide will be ending in 2019.

This made me wonder about when we’ll see the final game land on the console and what form it will take. We already have multiple titles announced for release next year, including some final physical releases sneaking in just before the cut-off point. Even with western physical production ending, carts will still be available in Asia & Japan, and beyond that we’ve been given no date for the shut-down of the PlayStation Store (which will allow strong supporters like Ratalaika Games to keep going). So just what form will the final Vita game actually take?"
