Anyway i agreed with this. Its mistly lacked genre balance due to the RPGs overflowing the list but at least the shooters came out on top. San andreas deserves that #2 spot. but i wish it was #1.....*sniff*

Worst list ever no God Of War, ICO, Shadow of The Colossus. And Soul Calibur 1 was the only good Soul Calibur, Tekken is a million times better.

Also what about Onimusha?

SOCOM: US Navy Seals was the first game to take console gaming online; not just PS2 gaming - CONSOLE gaming. Then, SOCOM II was even better than the first, yet neither appear on the list?

Definitely one of the most popular PS2 franchises to date with one of the most hardcore fanbases of all time (SOCOM II still has 1000+ players a day - some PS3 games can't even say that!)..

well the ps1 was around for a while after the ps2 launched as well....Im expecting ps3 to do the same.

it will be very interesting to see what happens this year as far as "this" gen sales go. Competition pushes limits.

Are you serious dude? I guess you have never heard of a little gaming system called the Dreamcast? I was fragging people online in Quake 3 arena on my dreamcast 2 years before the PS2 even released its network adapter. Even the Xbox had online gaming before the PS2, and it came out a year after the PS2.

Definitly agreed on Shadow of Colossus but while I loved GOW2, I don't think it was as great as the original.

Close to my list. Never played Primal, though I heard good things about it, and didn't like Burnout or ICO. Replace ICO with DOA2, the game that I actually got the PS2 for.. DMC 1 and 3 are pretty close to interchangeable, but I liked DMC3 more. Replace Primal, even though I never played it, with FFX. Finally, put in Kessen (most won't agree, but I spent far too much time on that game) in place of Burnout.

DOA2 was awesome but still, Soul Calibur 3 is my fave PS2 fighter quality wise. As for Kessen, I find it good but not great. Still, I'm not a fan of Koei games so :)
FFX is truly great though. Not my fave FF but still pretty awesome.

Games that I'd like to add to my list are:
Beyond Good & Evil, GTA3, FFX, Shinobi (I loved the classics and the PS2 one was really fun IMO), Indigo Prophecy / Farenheit, Guitar Hero 1, Onimusha.

The game was ok but I got tired of it when I got in the water world. I would have to put GTA3, Tekken Tag and Gran Turismo 3 in there as some of my favorites in the top 10. When it came to those 3 games they simply blew my mind as far as what could be possible in a video game.

Tho I'm all next gen'd out wit' my 360, the PS2 is still (imo) the best gaming console created. This is due to it's vast library of truly AAA titles. That's why a system will only be as good (no matter how powerful) as the software that's available for it. This is why the PS2 is still, to this day, enjoying strong sales and why it slaughtered the original Xbox.

My Top 10 (in no particular order):

Shadow of the Colossus (B.E.A.U.T.I.F.U.L)

GTA3 (I knew I was playing a next gen game, I knew the PS2 was "it")

GTA: San Andreas (I'm still finding out things I didn't know possible in this game)

Devil May Cry (Whew!)

Resident Evil 4 (....)

Dead to Rights

Need for Speed Underground (insane customization, insane hours logged in)

Red Faction (Bots were very intelligent, I really felt like I could blow up the world in that game)

ICO (speaks for itself)

The Getaway (I couldn't believe I was playing a game when I first walked into one of their indoor invironments, couldn't believe I could see the mechanics of the firearms actually moving as I fired.)

I'm feelin' good n' I'll go ahead n' make it my top 11 n' include Beyond Good & Evil

Final Fantasy XII definitely should NOT be in there, story was rubbish but FFX was good.

I also liked Primal (why no suquel?) and Resident Evil 4. Or is this list for exclusives only? I haven't played shadow of the colossus so can't really comment on that but loads seem to like it. Maybe I should pick it up?

I totally agree with you about the FF part.... Final fantasy 12 was the worst final fantasy i have ever played... X was very good tho..

I can only agree with MGS3, couse that game f**king rocks. But GoW 1/2 are alot better then DMC imo. And shadow of the colossus is nice as well. But what made me most upset is MGS2. Why the hell wasn't that completely awesome kick@ss game on the list?

I am pretty dissapointed at the fact that God of War 1 and Shadow of the Colossus wasn't on that list but this lists acctually made me remember one of the best times playing with KH2, FFX and Up your Arsenal those three games were off the hook, but sadly no God of War

Where is zone of the enders 2 that game was EPIC and Chaos Legion another epic game it deserves a sequal and me personaly I think that CL was better than Devil May Cry. Here's my top 10

I think the fact that we cannot agree on a top 10 list is a testament to the greatness of the PS2 and its game library. There are just so many different tastes and so many games that cater to each of them that a top-anything list is a very personal thing.

Ask the Europeans and they might say GT or some soccer game on top. Japan they would say FF or some weird game that wasn't release to in the west. Different taste indeed

Looking at this list reminds me why I went with the 360. Although, it's nice to see that numbers 3 and 2 have become multiplatform franchises.
