Hitman Absolution level changed due to negative nun trailer reaction

Hitman Absolution has been tweaked after negative reaction to the game's all-guns-blazing PVC-clad nun trailer.

The teaser video saw Agent 47 mercilessly assassinating a troupe of killer nuns. Hitman's trademark stealth gameplay was nowhere to be seen.

"We were surprised by the reaction to it. We've been trying to find out, you know, how could we not see this happening? If we knew it would get such a negative reaction we would have done it in a different way."

If you guys were Hitman fans then you should know why fans were p*ssed at that trailer.

Why is it that this gen developers try and change what the a franchise is about which ends up ruining it. Resident Evil, Devil May Cry, Dead Space, Final Fantasy etc

I'm a Hitman fan and I don't see why Hitman fans would be pissed at that trailer. Maybe new Hitman players might be offended or something but it's the same basic style of the older trailers. It starts out weird, you see a bit of the stealth, then it's exposed and he goes guns blazing.

SlavisH25033d ago

if you took out deadspace I would agree. that game has only gotten better

vallencer5033d ago

Somethings have to change. If resident evil stayed the way it was like from the ps1 era people would be whining about how it doesn't change. And devil may cry looks really good even if all you do is complain about the character or how its not 60fps. Whoopity do it still looks very enjoyable. And as far as dead space goes yeah they added co op and a cover system so what. There are unitologist in the game with guns so a cover system was needed and also you can still play the game completely alone it's not like they're forcing co op on you.

They can't please everybody you know.

despite the fact EVERY hitman game has always had a fantastical enemy who doesnt fit in at all and in every game it has been done completely on purpose.

And why are people so up in arms abou this, its clear they were not nuns anyway? besides religion needs a good socking in the face anyway.

I enjoyed it.

"level changed due to negative nun trailer reaction"
*disappointment & rage starts building*

*reads article*
They're adding more backstory and context to The Saints instead of removing that content? I knew I liked these guys for a reason :)

rezzah5033d ago

That is cool, majority of devs out there would completely change around everything or take it out.

joab7775033d ago

They weren't nuns. I don't get it. Is he unable to disguise himself as anyone because that group is upset.

sway_z5033d ago

Why fantasy gets confused with reality is beyond logic....when was the last time you saw a group of vixen nuns attacking a middle aged bald guy with deadly weapons?

The world's gone mad!

ninjahunter5033d ago

Lol, anything flies these days, I once saw a candy bar rebelling against a fat man. Im not sure if the candy bar or the guy won, but it wasnt pretty.

How IO turned Hitman around, from Absolution to World of Assassination

When Hitman 3 recently changed its name to Hitman World of Assassination, fans had no idea how meaningful the moment was. On the outside it looked like a simple thing: Hitman 3 would now be known by this name and include levels from Hitman 2 and 3 - the trilogy would all be in one place. But on the inside, at IO Interactive, much more was going on.

You mean destroyed it with this tethered single-player campaign BS... And only the first few levels of the third modern game were on the disc! I'll never support this crap at any price-point! They've lost me as a customer.

Hitman is, and has been, a remarkable series developed by some of the best. Some are better than others, but every Hitman is challenging and fun.

Sure, there have been some stumbles and fumbles, but always in pursuit of the perfect Hitman game. The most recent trilogy is a masterclass in level design.
