Six years ago, a small team of aficionados decided to get together and create a complete overhaul of Half-Life 2. The theme was set around the United States’ war in Iraq, and featured an extremely realistic play-style that was not very widespread at the time, especially for frequent players of any games that featured the Source engine in general.

An interesting and intense story awaits Insurgency

"The Insurgency mod finally released in July 2007 featuring team-based, multiplayer gameplay with tactical objectives and a few realistic elements like a lack of crosshairs and much higher bullet damage. As a result, it received multiple awards and, for Jeremy Blum, it was a burden of love that he wishes to continue to this day in a modern reboot of Insurgency (known previously as "Insurgency 2") by his new studio New World Interactive."
