Dear David,
About a week ago, Edge published some comments from you on their site which troubled me greatly. Phrases such as “My goal is to surprise people, to give them something they want without knowing they want it” and especially “I am not interested in giving them ‘fun’” set off alarm bells for me. It is perhaps not entirely fair to single you out, as I strongly suspect many others within the industry share your sentiments; but as you’re the only one to have so frankly stated your intent, this open letter is very much for you. I think it would benefit everyone involved if you stopped listening to your ambition, and started listening to your audience; if only for a few moments. First of all, let’s remind ourselves of exactly what it was you said. Taken verbatim from the Edge website:

Ben from Netto's Game Room takes a look at 7 video games where dying doesn't mean the end, as the story and world simply continue on without you.

We present a list of horror games with depressing endings, each known for its unique experience and storytelling.

Elliot Page and Quantic Dream are developing a television series adaptation based on the video game Beyond: Two Souls.
Ever since Heavy Rain, I've been supporting Quantic Dream. They put heart and soul into their work and create art.
That art might not be for everyone, but it's polished, well designed and engaging for those that enjoy it.
This is actually my favorite Quantic Dream game. I thought the story, supernatural stuff, and cast was great and super interesting. Hopefully the show will be good.
what the fuck?
screenplay holes, hard to not agree
If someone have read it, or parts of it, and undertand what it is about, can somebody explain?
Let the man do what he loves, I rather have him work freely on stuff he really wants to work on than force something down his throat that he is not fully invested in
You don't like his games don't buy it it's so simple. His games are not for everyone
Heavy rain sold over 2 million and I think after beyond 2 souls Sony will buy his studio. This guy has the balls to say what he wants and not give you a politically current statement. Not every game needs to hand you a gun and say shoot. I just finished Asura wrath which is mostly quick time events and one of the best games I have played in a long time. Quick time events are gameplay IMO. But I do understand if ou don't like his games or the stories he is trying to tell just don't buy it because there is a fan base for David cage since or before indigo prophecy
If you don't like it don't play it. It's all well and good saying what you think they should and shouldn't do with their game but as a fan I would hate to have any of your suggestions implemented into them.
If they listened to your letter QD games wouldn't stand out from the crowd and just blend in with all the rest. What you whine on about are no more than minor annoyances and detract nothing from the experience for me and no doubt the majority of QD games fans.
