Forza Horizon Expectations

Chaoshour Writes: So a few weeks back Forza Horizon was officially revealed at Microsoft’s Xbox Showcase. Ok revealed might be a bit to strong a word because we know very little about it but as you may have guessed it’s going to be an Xbox exclusive. Obvious I know but some times people miss the obvious so I just wanted every one to be clear on that. Little was actually confirmed about the game other than the name of the game “Forza Horizon” and the studio working on the game called Playground Games and a lovely announcement trailer.

Definitely more buzz than Forza 4 generated but that's hardly surprising given it wasn't the most generous of sequels with only four extra tracks. This game is looking good though

True. That's one of the many reasons why Forza 4 declined in sales by a whopping 50% of what Forza 3 sold. People weren't willing to pay $60 for only four extra tracks. Forza 5 will be out next year and I'm sure it will sell even less than Forza 4.

A lot of people waited to pick up Forza 3 when they offered the greatest hits pack, you got a ton of extra content for half the price. That is what I did.

Also, Forza 3 was bundled with the Xbox 360 a few different times. You of all people should know numbers don't always tell the full story.

As for next year, the Xbox 720 will be out next year, I doubt we see a Forza game to kick it off though, would be sweet if it did. Would also be nice for Forza to continue the tradition of being the highest rated racing series next gen like it is this one.

Forza Horizon is looking like a solid new IP, maybe picking up where Project Gotham left off, but with Forza handling and looks.

Win/Win

Its a definite day one for me, have the Collectors Edition pre-ordered.

Really?? you think so. I was going to comment saying how this game seems to be flying under the radar no one seems to even know it's coming out this year. Look at how many comments it has not many people seem to care.

I think people are just tired of forza I know I am. I know people make fun of Gran turismo and how long it takes for one to come out but I think it's actually a good thing people actually are excited for the next one but seeing how forza is being handled it seems with each new release people care less about it since it seems to come out every year now. I just don't think racing games can do the same thing that call of duty does come out every year and sell more. They really need to give the franchise a rest for a few years I know wont buy a forza game for a while.

There have only been 3 Forza games on the Xbox 360, that is not a yearly release schedule by any means. As long as the quality is there, I don't see a problem with giving people what they want.

Forza Horizon is made by developers who worked on Project Gotham games and more recently Blur. It could be looked at as more of a new IP than a Forza Motorsport game.

I have the CE ordered, I think it looks fantastic. I'm looking forward to an open world, festival racer. Forza/open world/nighttime/weather NUFF SAID.

That might be the case but I do sense more interest from this one being that it represents a more interesting type experience. I guess we'll see though
