SAPPHIRE Technology Introduces New Dual GPU Graphics Accelerator

Hardwarezone Tue, 29 January 2008 - SAPPHIRE Technology is now introducing a new DUAL GPU graphics accelerator based on the successful HD 3870.

The SAPPHIRE HD 3870 X2 comprises two complete HD 3870 graphics systems on a single PCI-Express card. Each GPU has 512MB of GDDR3 memory, making a total of 1GB on-board memory. Two Dual Link DVI outputs are provided as well as TV-Out. 3D applications such as games use both on-board GPU's together in CrossFire mode to deliver a single accelerated output on the Primary display only. In this mode, the new SAPPHIRE HD 3870 X2 delivers comparable performance to two separate HD 3870 cards in CrossFire mode, making it the fastest performing single card available using this generation of technology.

this year will be an interesting boxing match for AMD/ATi vs Nvidia.

I have an AMD athlonX2 4400 2.5GHz and ATI HD 3870 GDDR4

for performance to price ATI is best as i can play crysis at high and very high but vista is terrible. My card only cost £141 from cclonline.

were as the Nvidia 8800 ultra would cost around £400

check out other sites the single core 8800 is better than the 3870X2 in frame rate and higher resolutions. also the 3870X2 is not that better in benchmark test

really theres no point in the 3870X2 as the perfomance is only around 20% better

Nvidia will be way in the lead this year with the 89 series

if the 8800 ultra is on par with 3870X2 then the 8900 will smash ATI

i agree will be the up in coming top of the line GPU

Not looking good. Hopefully Asha Sharma is able to turn Phil’s disaster around.

To me it's still quite remarkable how they can cash-in 5.3bn in revenue in a single quarter, since their hardware is basically dead.

The stock mark is what makes Microsoft remarkable, They have convinced every institutional and retail investor to just keep piling money into them. Like many big tech giants they are just a big growing pyramid scheme. As long as people keep dropping money into ETF's that cover the market Microsoft will always be liquid. At the same time it is completely stifling innovation and competition. People need to start being more discreet in how they invest their money as it's killing the system.

Once they re-evaluate exclusive all will be fine….

S2Killinit38d ago

Riiiiight because people will just flock back to them for one or two games per year.

Jingsing38d ago

15+ years of bad performance is what they call irreparable in business. It is time for them to sell off the assets and get out of entertainment.

Tanktopmaster9237d ago

These declines are on the back of extra revenue received from releasing games like Forza horizon 5 on PlayStation. So I’m being sarcastic here when I said they should go back to exclusives. Killing off a revenue stream from Ps5 sales will only make things worse
