Recent reports has suggested that huge discounts 'devalue' games, but is that really the case or is there a different story behind it? The BitBag thinks that discounts do not give shame to an IP, read on for our thoughts.
Half-Life and Portal writer Erik Wolpaw has detailed how his team has been using Generative AI for research and development at Valve.

Valve has responded to New York Attorney General Letitia James' lawsuit against the firm, stating it does not believe that lootboxes in its Counter-Strike 2, Dota 2, and Team Fortress 2 games unlawfully encourage minors to gamble, adding it was "disappointed" to see the action go ahead despite efforts to "educate" the NYAG about virtual items since "early 2023."
Oh please... most games are over valued. games like halo, uncharted, rpgs they may be worth it but most games are. the massive discounts if anything bring them down to a more real price band.
The article does have a point. It has made me wait it out and not buy games at launch unless they look incredible.
No.
Sorry, without the huge sales, I'd never play many games. They just aren't worth their normal prices. Like Witness said, too many games overvalue themselves. Other times, I just don't know if the game would be worth it so the only time I'd try it is if it's cheap. There's no way to rent a game on PC. The sales help reduce the pain when you buy a bad game.
This is the same argument they use to justify using a one price fits all model. We all know that some games are just not worth the price of entry. Games like Thor and Ninja Gaiden 3 are not worth $60, but they don't mind rippin people off when they charge that for it. Then they try and use the excuse well if we launch it at a lower price then people will think its a lesser game. Well it is what is, people have been burnt too many times with your lack luster titles that you launch with dlc on the disc. And then want to tell us that just because we bought that disc doesn't mean we own it. Dipping into development time and profits trying to keep people from selling their games they don't play any more. You can say what you want, but this is all about greed. If these companies aren't making money hand over fist then they would no longer be in the games business. They rake in billions of dollars in a single quarter and its not enough.
