Five Overlooked Current Gen Games

Gamer Euphoria staff member Sean writes:

''For every block buster title than garners high praise and sales there a number of games that fly under the radar. There are plenty of great titles that have plenty to offer but, for numerous reasons, never get the love and attention they deserved. This isn’t the definitive list of the most overlooked games, its merely a look at few of them.''

I really hope that they are remastering Deadly Premonition for the Playstation 3 but I fear that some of the campiness may be lost if it does......

Now if you will excuse me, My can of "the pickles" is getting cold....

Skateboard5046d ago

I imported that game from Japan, worth every penny.

GamerEuphoria5046d ago

Not sure we'll ever see Deadly Premonition return :( shame, so much depth within the game!

ElasticLove5046d ago (Edited 5046d ago )

NIER should be on that list. Have over 100+ hrs put into that game, loved every minute of it.

GamerEuphoria5046d ago

We would like to point out this is just five games, it's not a definitive list of 'the most over looked', merely a list of 5 gives.

ElasticLove5046d ago

True, no arguing with that

pr0digyZA5046d ago

Binary domain and the saboteur for me.

kma2k5046d ago

I second both of those The Sabateur i wish somone had told me about earlier, one of my favorite sand box games this gen!

guitarded775046d ago

Yeah, everyone I know who played The Saboteur, including myself, liked it. It was a bit repetitive, but it had enough going for it to make it a good play... sadly, it was the last outing for Pandemic.

I also think Red Faction Armageddon was an overlooked game. I really enjoyed it for the $15 I paid for it new.

Another IMO is 3D Dot Game Heroes. It was a perfect homage to The Legend of Zelda and 8 - 16bit era RPG's. Love that game.

007Bond5046d ago

Definitely Mafia 2, at least in my opinion I like mob stories.

GamerEuphoria5046d ago

Really enjoyed Mafia 2, had a great feeling to it throughout, bar the few bugs here and there

Video Games Proud To Not Be For Everyone

Plenty of games have made a name for themselves as being proud of the fact they’re not to everyone’s taste over the years.

If you make something for everyone, you please no one.

mkis007471d ago

I mean I can do without nintendo games if given the choice. They are not nearly as mature rated as the average.

Yui_Suzumiya470d ago (Edited 470d ago )

Yeah but I use my Switch OLED primarily for anime booba style games (visual novels and JRPG's) and ultra violent FPS's. Far from kid friendly, lol

JohnBLZ470d ago

The problem with that line of though is that games have never been as much "for everyone" as in 2025.
The only thing that's not for everyone in gaming lately is the gatekeeping. Devs will try to appeal to as many people as they can, but if you dare have your own tastes and prefer something a bit more obscure, then you have "L takes" because at the moment, popular opinion equals right opinion.
So devs should simply own the fact they water down their games and go Hollywood to please everybody. Then indies will go back to being trendsetters that are different from AAAs, instead of being roguelike and gacha copycats.

Okay, but "games I'm not meant to love" means I won't play them.
Games are for fun. They're their own art, it's a disservice to reduce them to interactive stories. You can focus on making your audience entertained on a positive way and still stand out.

No game is for everyone. Some games are more mainstream or casual friendly but there is always someone who won’t like it. Same with anything else

Sweet. I loved Liberty City Stories despite the city being empty. Those main story missions were tough but fun.

ZycoFox940d ago

Both Stories games were far better than GTA 3 IMO, VCS being the best and most enjoyable though.
