The thing is, if the people who care about playing android games wanted to play them on a big screen tv, then they would probably already have an interest in playing real games on a system from the big three. Most people who play android games don't care about actual gaming, so I really don't see this being a big deal.

Out of those that actually enjoy playing games on their phones and tablets, it's for the sheer portability of it. If you are going to sit down and play a game, you may as well get a real console and enjoy AAA title games on consoles that have been around longer and are dedicated to bringing great experiences to their fans.

This just seems like selling a blind man contacts to me. Doesn't make sense.

I believe the OUYA is in it own category of products within the console gaming market. I believe, while it won't be as popular or have much buzz around it come E3 2013 with new Xbox and PlayStation (which are true dedicated gaming machines), there are some pros to having this kind of a lower-tier system that can co-existence with next-gen gaming platforms:

1. It runs Android 4.0 O/S with their internally built OUYA UI Interface. You get the best of Android as an operating system, and the feel that this is a gaming console with its own UI. (Plus, the development community and consumer base around android will hit a sweet spot for both devs and consumers)

2. Excellent for Indie Devs and Mobile-game platformers. This is the perfect platform and most copst-efficent way for indie devs to get their creations out to market, without going through the hassels of one of the big 3 (plus, better opportunities to get hired or purchased by a big name game company to produce either mini titles for XBL/PSN or actual games)

3. Upgrade/Hacking - this one im kinda iffy on, cause while I understand it is an open platform with the freedom to do whatever you want and no limitations (to both hardware and software front), I'm kinda nervous about doing any actual online mp gaming or using my credit card on such a service where it could get hacked within seconds (unless they will have some sort of stable online secured payment/store structure).

4. Opportunites galore. Again, this comes back to android and how all current apps and games can work on OUYA. As long as its developed specifically for OUYA (or ported from mobile version) as OUYA has its own SDK for devs to release their apps or games on. It's very interesting cause this could enable cloud gaming, cloud saves, dual screen (ala WiiU or Xbox SmartGlass), movie/music watching and purchasing, and an in incredible list of multimedia opporunites as long as the apps are designed for use with OUYA.

I for one am a supporter of all start-up companies and underdogs. Suported Xbox when they first came out, supported Android when they first came, etc etc, so I'm always excited to see where talent and creativity go...But I can guarantee this will not be like all the other "new" game consoles that came, tried and failed.

So you have not checked it out? If you are making an argument against it. would it be prudent to know before you write up how it looked before you said anything?
