So why did one NPC other than the Sorceress have an ability to manipulate time? Why did she select Squall and Crew to use it on?

Why did Irvine just come out as say he knew everyone and who the Sorceress was instead of accepting a mission where he not only he knew he'd freeze, but got squall impaled and falling several stories?

Why, if there's anti-magic technology which was used at the prison which an unharmed Squall woke up in, didn't anyone simply capture and lock up the Sorceress? Also why did the anti-magic field only work selectively, with your characters apparently only unable to use magic until they tried to escape?

Where did the Jabba the Hutt reject get the money to loan to Cid to fund SeeD and what did he want out of it? Why is he the only member of his species you ever see?

How the F*** did Laguna go from being a dim witted merc to president of a hidden away technological Eden?

Please don't get me wrong, I like the game and the general story, but at the same time much of it in nonsensical crap.

Well judging from other games with a magic/fantasy setting and even the mytho of FF8 Ellone was born with that gift like how Sorceress are given their different powers, some are born with them, others are given them by other Sourceress. Instead of Elone becoming a Sorceress she'd rather hide her power and try to live a normal life.

Because they were willing to risk there lifes as trained SeeDs to defeat the threat that threaterned the Past, Present and Future.

Plus Elone wanted to see is Squall could change the past when playing as Laguna. She wanted to change the past so she would live a different life where she wasn't kidnapped, where him Raine and Laguna stayed in the village together. She knew Squall and Laguna...they are father and Son...thats probably why she selected them to try and change things.

Because he's a ladies man...a big shot. He was big headed and thought he could do it. People like that don't run away...the reason he froze was because he realised at the last minute when it was his time to shine that a lot of pressure was on him to make this shot against Edea.

Oh....you mean how Irvine tried to shoot her but she SAW IT COMING. She would kill them before anyone got close. They wouldn't of gotten the Garden involved if they could do that. Hell she even knew what Rinoa was going to do to try and bind her powers.

Well...they moved out of range when Zell bust them out of that prison cell when he was going to get their weapons. The guards could use it outside of battle when Zell ran into them.

He was a traitor to his tribe who cast him out, he probably got the money by doing something "illegal" or moraly wrong and in return he could live in the Garden and have his staff in control of the pupils. He's a guy who likes power...it's pretty obvious. Apparently him and Cid were friends or knew each other

He helped in the Sourceress war and was the one who trapped Adel...winning the war for the people in Esther.

No...you basicaly nit picked the game apart...while most of your questions were answered in the game.

I could nit pick all FF games since all of them you have to fill in the gaps your self. There not going to explain everything to you.

(@ Godmars290) Eeek, spoilers. As confusing as the story is. I can't answer too many of your questions, but I'll try.

1. Squall is Laguna's and Raine's child, though never blatantly disclosed, unless you pay close attention. Ellone was also there at the orphanage, with Squall and crew. Laguna left Ellone's care to Edea, thinking it'll be safer at the orphanage. Ellone was simply an adopted daughter of Raine, so there's no blood relation between Ellone and Squall other than knowing Laguna and Raine. But that was also the key Ellone needed to link Squall back up with Laguna; the two men she knew who would save the world. Plus it's a typical RPG archetype to have a lone girl, who has amazing powers and is still essentially defenseless. lol

2. That, I don't blame you for being confused, regarding Squall impaled by an icicle. But he was merely on a parade float, so the fall wasn't high. But he was still impaled and survived. I'm guessing it was an illusion? It's Final Fantasy, so just let's just say it was "magic" and move on. Irvine not being exposed to GFs meant he knew about the crew and orphanage, but it probably didn't occur to him at first, until being with the group for a while. I also think he assumed everyone knew about the orphanage/edea and didn't feel the need to bring it up. He probably didn't know the group had lost their memories (at first). As for freezing up even though Irvine was gung-ho for the battle plan, that syndrome happens to most soldiers and pilots in real life.

3. Well, I don't remember an anti-magic field in the prison. But the prison was probably constructed after Adel was imprisoned. Keeping her in hibernation in space, was the only way to contain her.

4. I think you might be confused. Haven't you gone to the Village of Shumi, where Norg (Jabba the Hut guy) is from? Anyways, a short summary is that Norg left the village with a bit of wealth with him. He met up with Cid and he lent him funds to create Garden. Norg is the one who suggested that Seed be a mercenary group to do hired work, thus bringing more money to Garden. And even if you haven't been to the Village of Shumi, you've seen their evolved form. You know those cute little lions with red hair? Moombas! ^_^

5. You know, I don't think this materialized visually, but only through conversation (and Laguna's Journal entries). Laguna led a resistance after he was imprisoned in Esthar, to fight against Sorceress Adel. Basically, he pushed Adel into a cryogenic tomb and froze her in place. Then they sent the bitch into space as a precaution.

I'm the same as you where I enjoyed the game, but I will completely agree that almost nothing was clear or made sense. Some people were happier before disc three, and some loved the entire game.

Square Enix is a cautionary tale. The have some of the oldest fanbases out there a instead of giving them what they asked for, the strung them along so hard that they no longer sale what they once did because their audience is literally dying off. And even when they finally got around to doing FF7 you can feel that while good, the game is lacking the polish it deserves. It is can be clunky, slow, and fights you for no reason with layers of artificial difficulty masquerading as challenge.
