Irony: Live Users Having Issues Downloading Undertow

Xbox Live is still having issues. They have been having issues since before Christmas. Reason? Live can't handle all the new users and is chugging under the strain. Well all these new users is cause for celebration over at Xbox and we were told we would get Undertow for FREE to celebrate. This of course was PR spin for compensation due to down time. The funny thing is, people are having issues downloading the free game, which is only free until Sunday. Hopefully the issues/celebration clears up by then.

Microsoft better get their acts together because this has been going on for too long. Ironic indeed as this game was supposed to be a compensation for the live downtime problems. Hope they can fix it soon to give live users a better service as they paying for it and deserve it.

Is it me or has this year been in Sony's advantage since the year began ? Almost everything has been Negative Microsoft related news with a few good things.

PS: If anyone is going to agree, please state you opinion as to why ?

Sorry but I have yet to see any of these site predict the gloom you are talking about. So it seems like the media loves the 360. The fake media( i.e sonydefenseforce.com) hates the 360. Big surprise!!!!

I got it when it came out. I was kind of surprised not more people downloaded it. It's pretty cool, only complaint is that the sub woofer sounds are way to high. I have the ingame sound at the lowest level and still my whole house shakes from the explosions. (partly due to my svs woofer :)

Anyway I just called support and got 800 points as a compensation.

The disagree bandits are out in full force again.i downloaded nine 80mins ago along with the demo for turning point.Also been playing PGR4 on live without any problems.

I'd like to point out that Opposable Thumbs also posted about the problems. Look people, the guy that wrote this article is in no way a Sony Fanboy. I know it's CRAAAAZY to imagine that Microsoft might actually have a distributed network where some cities might experience problems while others are able to access XBL just fine.

The point is that all of us PAY for a service that is not running 100% all the time. Its a fantastic service, and nobody is going to argue that point. However, after paying for the service and not even being able to load the initial blade on startup can be a little more than frustrating. It's not a fanboy thing - it's a CONSUMER thing. If I pay for something I expect it to work (at least the majority of the time). Having spotty service for a month is unacceptable from any service provider. Period.

Let's use some common sense here, whenever there is something free be given away, there is going to be an influx of people trying to get it. you all have seen it before, if a retail store offers Uncharted for $9.99 (hypothetically) their web site will probably crash due to the large amounts of people trying to get in on the deal. There are millions of xbox live members out there that will be downloading this game within the next 4 days (til no longer free) so, there is going to be large numbers on live at the same time.

It's so easy for some of you to use this as something to create a negative spin. You guys can be relentless, it's really a somewhat childish and needs to be controlled. There are constant b!tching and bickering on this site, and due to arrogance combined with simple stupidity, it will never end.

you can bet your ass that most people will be downloading it, the internet is like a highway, dont matter how big it is, if its full of cars your gonna get slowdown, people will point to psn been lag free but lets see if thats the case if they get 10 million subscibers

This is not true and this article/blog smells so much of SDF/Droids that I need to get some PS3sol for the stink. The Droid who wrote this gave it away when he promoted the PS3 with "FREE" online in caps. This is PURE SDF in action, new members take note of this because this is how low they sink on ths site "frequently"

Dude, as Dolbex pointed out I am in no way a Sony fanboy. I don't have a PS1 or PS2 and I just only picked up the PS3 less than a week ago. Look all I am doing is pointing out what I am seeing. I am still having issues with XBL, other people are clearly having issues downloading this game that is supposed to be compensation, and it's true that I haven't had any issues in the 5 days that I have owned a PS3. There are things I don't like about it too. All I'm trying to say is anything that I write is objective and middle of the road. I play boths sides of the argument when I can but I couldn't in this case.

At least the source article could of linked to some actual complaints. I'm looking at the xbox forums and other xbox blogs and am not seeing any massive complaints about problems.

Man, I can't wait till HOME launches.. It better not have a single issue or the blacklash is going to be fierce. I will be handing out pitchforks and torches that's for sure.

In one of my usual status report I just finished downloading the game it took a little bit more than usual (probably too many people downloading it) but no problems by my end and yes I did had problems with Live not logging in a couple of days ago but its seem to be working now...lets hope it stays that way

by the way Undertow is F-CKING amazing

This is total BS. 2 min. and the game down loaded no problems.

I also checked the MS forums for posting about this and found only one with 3 comments.

XBOX fans it is time to use the ignore button. This site has been over run by ignorance even before the beta is over. Sick and sad shame.

not tried the d/l yet (my network cable is still plugged into my ps3 and i'm too lazy to buy a switch or change it over) but i've not had any problems with live as yet - although i dont doubt the fact that many problems have occured and are still lingering.

8100... something something something the first time I attempted but tried right after that and it downloaded in less than 30sec.. just lots o' traffic. It's free for a few days so people have time...
