With the recent efforts of the indie gaming community trying to find new ways to re-invent the first person shooter, Cassidee from Leviathyn.com asks whether or not the genre really needs an overhaul.

Halo will make its PS5 debut with a massively modernised remake of the original Xbox game, Combat Evolved.
That’s according to the Halo Leaks account on X (or Twitter), which has accurately outed information about the franchise in the past.
I expect this to be announced pretty soon. Can't wait, this game was awesome. I wonder how of a remake it'll be though, hopefully not a remaster because we already have that lol.
Better reboot than another re-touch (remake after an already remaster) .... but 343/Halo is incompetent now, so .... guess this is best they can do with help of Coalition
So much memories with halo.
The original Xbox was my first console (actually 64 but barely played) and the first game was halo. Me and my brother use to play coop almost everyday.
We eventually traded in for a PS2 because of kingdom hearts lol
I played the first 2 Halo games. That's Bungie's Halo.. I do not know whether 343's Halo is as good as Bungie's.
Either ways Halo is one of Microsoft's big franchises. So many rumours so it's becoming more likely it'll come to PS5

Tashi writes: Back in June we let the community know that we’d be continuing the conversation from last year’s HaloWC and the “A New Dawn” video and sharing more about what we’ve been working on. Like last year we’ll be on the Main Stage to talk about it but this year we’ve also got a “deep dive” panel planned for the Community Stage that you won’t want to miss.

The developers behind the original Borderlands discuss their last-second Hail Mary to change the course of the franchise.
ever since XIII came out I really loved the cell shaded artstyle in games. I probably wouldn't have tried it if it didn't have such a style like that
The FPS genre has evolved and games like the STALKER Series are proof!
unfortunately too many companies are making generic COD clones and thus the FPS genre seems stale.
I'm sure Half Life 2 ep3 will revolutionize the FPS genre AGAIN cause that is what Half Life always seems to do.
This is going to be a stretch, but here it goes. First person shooters are in the same boat as Americas health care. They both need to give the control to the people, and they both have been going off of what's popular rather than what is right. Health care is being more and more controlled, as are fps games. You don't get to choose where to go, or how you want to play, they just tell you "go here, kill everything" like with health care "buy it or we tax you". We need to get back to the time where choice was in the hands of the consumers, and not in the hands of the creators or government. Also, we need to stop copying what others are doing. Yeah, call of duty is popular. Yeah, government controlled healthcare is popular. But neither will work long. The tax rate in free healthcare countries is over 50% just to sustain itself. Call of duty is getting stale. If we keep going the way we are, there is going to be more complaining. We don't need our hands held, we need freedom to find out what works best, for us as people. So stop all the cod clones and the stranglehold on healthcare. If you want things to change, let it happen by itself. The more you rush something, like change, the worse it turns out.
It has stagnated but in fps defense it really is hard to expand on such a basic form of gaming. Aim and shoot with a few querky things added in. The only reason fps continue to sell is because it's at the forefront of online because it's so basic. Get online and shoot. It is idiot proof.
I just want it to be creative with the genre not just a military shooting game. Like how Borderlands turned it into an RPG shooter.
