Why I dread multiplayer

After writing "hell is other people", it's said that the philosopher Jean-Paul Satre sat back in his chair, smiled to himself, and enjoyed a moment's transcendent joy that the other people he had to deal with had never come armed with a plasma rifle or - worse - a headset. Nothing destroys a great game like letting other people into it.

Don't like the one someone sounds? Mute 'em. Don't playing online with others? then don't. Obviously, single player games allow breathing room and give the player an experience that (they think) is unique and not shared by other (offline) players trekking through the same worlds.
For me, when I played Halo 2 for example, I never played to win, oftentimes people on my team gave me the impression that they began walking days before and picked up a controller for the first time, but their lack of skill or ability never deterred my ability to have fun in the game, and strike up a conversation if they have a mic.

I am so damned sick of people saying that mics are things of Satan. Seriously, mute them or block them, do something, because you often have the ability to -not- hear them, but most would rather bicker about the voices of a 8 year olds online then not do something about it.

For ever homophobic 8 year old shouting bouts of profanity into my eardrums there are (at least) 2 awesome people (who happen to have mics) that are really cool to talk to.

I completely agree.
This article goes on to assume "multiplayer" means "4v4 deathmatch." Maybe rename article, "Why I dread head to head multiplayer FPS." For some games, multiplayer is my saving grace - Minecraft, and L4D are just a few random examples. And even so, in the rare FPS multiplayer games I play, i.e. Gears and CoD, multiplayer makes it that environment that can't be created in a singleplayer game.

I agree and to be honest, I wish more people played with mics. Quick note That's funny. I know this kid online that used to be a loud annoying teen but he has grown up and now has no tolerance for people like he was. I remind him that if I had ignored him back in the day, we would have never met. There's one thing that most of them have in common...they are almost always really good.

Wow. Just read my comment this morning. I must not have checked for grammar or spelling.

If youre competitive at all and half decent at a game, you are more likely to enjoy a game of halo, bf, or cod than if you arent. My opinion anyway

While I am not a huge online gamer & I agree somewhat with your idea, I believe that u r missing the point. Yes, I feel more powerful in an epic sp RPG, & yes, many games have successfully added multi without destroying this feeling (dragons dogma comes to mind by sharing pawns and not main characters), but I believe that many multi fans experience exactly that which I experience in sp, but to much greater satisfaction. Yeah, it's satisfying saving he world as the greatest hero ever (though I would argue that many games today are not as satisfying due to their easy rewarding nature), but Imagine doing it against other human beings. Imagine being a phenomena Cod player or a top tier wow player. That is the ultimate satisfaction...owning a world populated by other real people. And, even for myself, that is the allure of online play. If I go 25-8 in a match, it feels wonderful to know that u outwitted or outplayed other real people. And even those that cheat, do it so that others think they are that good. The RPG elements and unlocks help dangle the carrot, but how fun would the same concept be, continuously playing against AI. It wouldn't and no one would play.

Online multiplayer is a poor place to put any significant development in. Just focus on making a solid single player with great characters, and story. I dread the day when platformers get a significant focus on online, or any other thing of the sort. Frankly, online is the biggest gimmick in the gaming industry(for all you people who religiously hate "gimmicks")

Being a philosopher must have been awesome. You could write one line, sit back and smile.Weird thing is,these days that would make you a troll.Or someone with a twitter account.

The game has been properly cracked by voices38, no Hypervisor bypass shit. It actually runs better without Denuvo. From Tom's Hardware: "Denuvo properly cracked in Resident Evil: Requiem, bypasses become plug-and-play — cracked version runs faster, smoother, and uses way less VRAM and RAM" https://www.tomshardware.co... I personally don't give a shit about RE anymore, same crap every year it seems, but I got to give to voices 38 good job.🙌

PlayStation legend Shuhei Yoshida says Jim Ryan fired him because he didn't listen to him

Why did Sony push Shuhei Yoshida out of his role leading PlayStation's first-party games? He'd overseen some huge successes. Well, apparently, he didn't listen.

Yeah I can see that for sure. Shuhei Yoshida should have been in charge not Jim Ryan.

Cacabunga6h ago

It should be free highway for him now.. but Sony are too stupid to see this, especially that moron Hulst

Outside_ofthe_Box8h ago

More confirmation that Jim Ryan is the culprit for what has happened to Sony. Hulst needs to go too. What sucks is that a lot of the good top heads at Sony are no longer there. I wish that guys that were forced out prematurely by Dumbo Jimbo like Shuhei and Layden came back.

darthv726h ago

Makes you wonder if MS even thought about hiring him after Phil and Sarah were leaving. He certainly couldn't make their situation any worse.

badz1495h ago

Yoshida for President! Jim Ryan was and always be a hack! Sony should get Shu back

Lightning775h ago

All the gamer/consumer lead heads are gone across PS and Xbox. shuhei gone phil's gone (questionable) but gone. The future of gaming is somewhat uncertain across the board.
