Console XP: Lollipop Chainsaw Review

Bryton Lam wrote: "First of all, I’m disappointed in you, Warner Bros! This game is an atrocity and I hope you know that you decided to degrade women, degrade video games, and degrade gamers. Expecting that the only thing that we would respond to was sex appeal is downright offensive and these actions will continue to destroy the industry’s chances of being taken seriously. Your game is unoriginal, your marketing is unoriginal, and it’s a strategy that has already proven to be a complete failure. Thank you for telling the world that video games are a boy’s club and that we only respond to girls in short skirts. By the way, if you love this marketing scheme, have fun with these two installments."

What a ridiculous review.

Warner Brothers didn't make the game, as the reviewer seems to think. They published it. While that means Warner Brothers is complicit in the "crime" - if you want to believe that - it was Grasshopper Manufacture that made the game.

Furthermore, I would expect a critic to know something about self-referential irony in game production. The fact this guy took the game seriously is quite a poor reflection on games journalism.

yeeeah he is a moron, i totally disregarded the review when he blamed warner bros

He's just one of those self-hating feminist poodle-dogs. I stopped reading after the second sentence.

This review is done by something that thinks it`s cool to not like sex appeal, but the game is so much more than sex appeal. If it(yes it) can`t understand it, and all the intertextual references throughout the game, I recommend it to stop trying to review games.

Wow, this site isn't professional.

@Deadpool

Console XP is known for better reviews than this. It's the writer that sucks.

lol that's cool. I'm waiting for lollipop chainsaw remake to go on major sale before i try it again. I didn't get far in the original, not because i didn't like it tho. I bought shadows of the damned remake instead which is an awesome game and i recommend.

Numbers 6-9 were some of my absolute favorite early gen PS3 games. I'm still bitter about Incognito and Japan Studio.

Goodguy01722d ago

The white knight chronicles and infamous games really need to come to modern platforms. MAG I really miss...poor zipper. The ps3 was definitely a unique console despite it being the worst home console of PlayStation.

Lollipop chainsaw now a remaster not a remake

At fans request apparently.

gold_drake953d ago

i wonder if they looked into what a remake would cost and went "NOPE Remaster it is" haha

FreeckyCake952d ago

It probably has to do with what the producer had mentioned recently. The thing about not wanting to change the essence of the original (e.g censorship). So maybe remastering the game was the best choice.

CrimsonWing69952d ago

The link to the story didn’t really answer the question. It makes no sense that you have to censor a remake and not a remaster.

What I got from that article is licensed music forced them to change to a Remake(?) and that they’re working hard with the platform holders to negotiate not censoring, which Sony is stupid about.

My question is, how would a Remaster not have to go through censorship?

I’ve seen dialogue changed in FF7 and Baten Kaitos. Then you have actual cutscenes being removed like in the dmc remaster.

I assume the same could be done to this game.

FreeckyCake952d ago

No idea. That's why I said " maybe ".

CrimsonWing69952d ago

Bull sh*t, you show me where fans wanted a Remaster instead of a Remake. I was more onboard with a Remake, I’m less excited just playing the same game I did before but now with sharper textures and better framerate.

ModsDoBetter952d ago

Probably realised this won't do the numbers so didn't want to invest.

No harm, I love Lollipop Chainsaw but it's a bit of a niche title.

gold_drake952d ago

yeh it was super niche even bk then

LoveSpuds951d ago (Edited 951d ago )

Loved it back in the day and have my copy sat on the shelf and ypu are right, it was super niche, which is why my copy is increasing in value slowly but surely. Hoping a remaster doesn't tank the value of my PS3 copy
