With the upcoming release of Xbox SmartGlass, has Microsoft already taken the next evolutionary step up from the Wii U? Mark Paterson thinks so.

The rejection is non-final (and even when such rejections are labeled as “final”, the process is far from over, given that there can be, at minimum, an appeal to the Federal Circuit).
Good, as they should! A game mechanic like that shouldn't be locked behind a patent, and Nintendo didn't invent it either.
Nintendo wants to keep wasting money on bullshit lawsuits, real smart in this economy. They should put that money aside for other game projects. On the other hand, I don't care if they waste it all either, and they are screwed in the future maybe that will teach them a lesson.

Nintendo completed its share repurchase and set its secondary offering price at 8,347 yen ahead of March 16 delivery.

Nintendo filed a lawsuit in the United States Court of International Trade.
Nintendo of America is suing the United States government over the sweeping tariffs President Donald Trump put in place last year, according to a complaint filed Friday in the U.S. Court of International Trade and obtained by Aftermath.
LOL I read this on gaff, will they refund the money back to the gamers? highly unlikely. Didn't they just raise prices and pass it onto the gamers? Only Nintendo would send out the Ninjas to the US government.
This article basically states that MS beat Nintendo by copying them, with smartglass. Ok, how many games for the 360 will be smart glass compatible? And now many Wii U games will use its controller? How many Mario games will be on the 360? Nintendo wins because Nintendo does games, MS does not.
These kind of articles are reaching so hard to believe that Sony and Microsoft can achieve the same types of gameplay on 360/ps3 with Smartglass and Vita respectively. Just saying you can crossplay on Vita isn't the same experience! WiiU gamepad allows for seamless lag-free interaction, which neither Sony nor Microsoft can claim with their attempts. Not to mention that neither the Vita or Smartglass will allow for addition players to operate within the same game while performing different functions and having different experiences all while never leaving the same game environment. Nice try though!
I like the idea of SmartGlass, but lets be honest here, the Wii U packs in the tablet with every system, which gives it the advantage because everyone that buys one will have one. The SmartGlass thing is only applicable to people who might already have a tablet. This is why the Wii U has the advantage over the PS3/Vita combo as well.
Hardly anyone has a Vita, so its going to be hard to get something going between the two unless they pack them together or something.
Nintendo faced the same hate when they released the Wii, guess we'll just have to wait and see what happens. As soon as I can pre-order a Wii U, I'm there though.
Games for the Wii U are going to be made from the ground up for the controller, and everyone will have the controller if they have a Wii U. The same can't be said for the competition.
