Online retailer Amazon will not honour customer pre-orders for the Wii U, which it listed yesterday for £199.
Amazon explained in an email to customers that the listing was posted "in error". All orders for the console have now been cancelled.

Yeah just got that email I thought they had to guarantee preorder prices marketing gimmick

SantistaUSA5087d ago

There is always a disclaimer, fine print that allows them to get away with it :-\

PopRocks3595087d ago

Balls. How awesome would it have been to be guaranteed a Wii U for the price they had listed? XD

eagle215087d ago (Edited 5087d ago )

There must have been a significant number of pre-orders prompting amazon to say "oh hell naw". lol

@svoulis
I made a joke, don't get your pink sony panties in a twist. Or lime green ones..lol

svoulis5087d ago (Edited 5087d ago )

Or maybe they make it an incorrect price and though for the people who did pre-order it, it wouldn't be right to keep their money when it wasn't the right amount?

You Nintendrones are funny.

It doesn't matter if it was 1 pre-order or 1 million. They mismarked the product and thus have to apologize and refund.

EDIT:

You made a joke? really? I've seen your post before and you are calling me a fanboy. Right.

I am assuming your "panty" joke is saying I am either a Sony or MS fanboy? Even though I play/own/like all 3 competitors? The difference between you and I though is I don't just eat the SH!T these companies try and feed me. You on the other hand open wide for anything Nintendo decides to feed you.

nintendojunkie285087d ago

In all fairness you called him out first,with the whole nintendrone comment.You also seemed to get really flammed up over a relatively benign post,by eagle21.

Zhipp5087d ago

Ah! "Nintendrones"! I haven't heard that one before, but I like it! I still kind of prefer "Nintendork", though.

svoulis5087d ago

@Zhipp

I say Nintendrone to the ones who actually think Nintendo Does no wrong. I use Xbots for the Xbox Fanboys who also think Microsoft does no wrong. I am still trying to think of a clever name for Sony fanboys but I am having a hard time making Sony work with anytype of robot reference.

MoonConquistador5087d ago

I'd agree with nintendojunkie28, think you were being a touch over sensitive over the comment

And they must have listed this too low and now see they will be losing out if they honoured the deal.

I'm just shocked that they can get away with cancelling the orders. If they made a mistake, maybe they should learn from it. Its not the first time they have done it, and unless they are made to pay, they wont ever learn, so it wont be the last either.

nintendojunkie285087d ago (Edited 5087d ago )

I call them Playstation Nazis,because they all march in lockstep and they worship their leader.

svoulis5087d ago

@Nintendojunkie28

Yeah but it still doesn't suffice for the robotic answers they give when defending their favorite console. Was thinking of SonyBot but It seems too easy. Not as catchy as Nintendrone or Xbot.

ChickeyCantor5087d ago

" Was thinking of SonyBot but It seems too easy. Not as catchy as Nintendrone or Xbot."

I love the irony in all of this.
The reason you aren't using Sonybot is simply because you are bias towards sony. Not because it's not as catchy.

Also the fact you go to this extend to "insult" people, says more about you than them actually.

SilentNegotiator5086d ago (Edited 5086d ago )

Who put the piss in your cereal, man? All he said was that there were probably so many preorders that they probably HAD to cancel it.

I mean, look at what people are WILLING to pay for a console at launch. Could you imagine if you were one of these people, and you saw a "guaranteed" $300 price, and you wouldn't have to wait in line for 2 days or pay some guy $1000+ on eBay?

I'd bet that there WERE too many preorders for them to redeem it.

I'm wondering if the price and date could have been real but Amazon canceled because the date wasn't announced yet. Hmm probably not cause i think September will be the release date.

SilentNegotiator5086d ago

Doubt it. They'd still be willing to take your money later, least you canceled it out of disappointment of a changed date. Placeholder dates get changed CONSTANTLY and they do nothing about it until the official date is announced.

WeskerChildReborned5086d ago

But just imagine if like later on this month, they announced a July 15th release date. That would just be insane and totally unexpected lol.

SilentNegotiator5086d ago

They would just sell them to people in order of their pre-orders.

I've been following Amazon's game price trends for a while now and they're crap.

Luigis Mansion 3 went from £44.99 to £44.00 and whole 99pence price reduction.

Stick to Argos or Smyths for game bargains I think lads and lasses
