Lollipop Chainsaw Divides Critics

Long-awaited and intentionally ludicrous hack-and-slasher Lollipop Chainsaw has now landed – but the critics are completely divided over whether Suda 51′s fresh bout of mayhem is an entertaining hit, or an abysmal miss.

Yet another game that is style over substance - apparently it can be completed in less than 6 hours....

rezzah5093d ago

If time is an issue, then pick up sailing as a new hobby.

Then when you gain enough experience you can sail the world.

Be sure to bring a stop-watch so you can count every second!

People enjoy hobbies for fun, not time.

When games don't cost $65, feel free to take this suggestion into consideration, ladies and gentlemen. Until then, you may disregard it.

If the game cost considerably less, you may disregard my suggestion.

SeraphimBlade5093d ago

Yeah, but it's replayable as all hell. Trust me, you still get your money's worth from all this.

SeraphimBlade5093d ago

I picked it up and I think the problem may be everybody expects action games to play like God of War now. It really has more in common with an old-school arcade brawler than anything else.

DeeZee5093d ago

Exactly! You really can't compare this to games like Bayonetta, GOW, and DMC. Some people need to realize it's not trying to be one of those games, it's basically a modern brawler.

Troll-without-Bridge5093d ago

Its a great game and pretty much in the way Tarantino or Rodriguez movies are appreciated for their exploitation, Lollipop chainsaw should be appreciated by its similar style and intuit.

One of the most enjoyable games I've played in the last few years.

Even the name arouses my attention

lol that's cool. I'm waiting for lollipop chainsaw remake to go on major sale before i try it again. I didn't get far in the original, not because i didn't like it tho. I bought shadows of the damned remake instead which is an awesome game and i recommend.

Numbers 6-9 were some of my absolute favorite early gen PS3 games. I'm still bitter about Incognito and Japan Studio.

Goodguy01723d ago

The white knight chronicles and infamous games really need to come to modern platforms. MAG I really miss...poor zipper. The ps3 was definitely a unique console despite it being the worst home console of PlayStation.

Lollipop chainsaw now a remaster not a remake

At fans request apparently.

gold_drake953d ago

i wonder if they looked into what a remake would cost and went "NOPE Remaster it is" haha

FreeckyCake953d ago

It probably has to do with what the producer had mentioned recently. The thing about not wanting to change the essence of the original (e.g censorship). So maybe remastering the game was the best choice.

CrimsonWing69952d ago

The link to the story didn’t really answer the question. It makes no sense that you have to censor a remake and not a remaster.

What I got from that article is licensed music forced them to change to a Remake(?) and that they’re working hard with the platform holders to negotiate not censoring, which Sony is stupid about.

My question is, how would a Remaster not have to go through censorship?

I’ve seen dialogue changed in FF7 and Baten Kaitos. Then you have actual cutscenes being removed like in the dmc remaster.

I assume the same could be done to this game.

FreeckyCake952d ago

No idea. That's why I said " maybe ".

CrimsonWing69953d ago

Bull sh*t, you show me where fans wanted a Remaster instead of a Remake. I was more onboard with a Remake, I’m less excited just playing the same game I did before but now with sharper textures and better framerate.

ModsDoBetter952d ago

Probably realised this won't do the numbers so didn't want to invest.

No harm, I love Lollipop Chainsaw but it's a bit of a niche title.

gold_drake952d ago

yeh it was super niche even bk then

LoveSpuds952d ago (Edited 952d ago )

Loved it back in the day and have my copy sat on the shelf and ypu are right, it was super niche, which is why my copy is increasing in value slowly but surely. Hoping a remaster doesn't tank the value of my PS3 copy
