I'm using a Component connection, and the picture quality on my tv (not resolution, of course) looks better than the 'component' video that Gametrailers put up. Seems like they're just doing damage control to prove that there's little difference between component and hdmi...when really the argument is RGB Limited vs RGB Full.

Like Mullet, I recommend Gamersyde as they provide perfect-quality gameplay footage of both PS3 and 360 titles.

I noticed the hair looks sharper in HDMI and the explosion was a little more clear. But, When I played the game the graphics were better than both HDMI/component that are presented in the video. I had the Full range on and used HDMI.. The game looks astonishing, no question, its one of the best games I have ever played...

Take a look at the scene where he lights up the room!!!!! It's clearly a difference.

Secondly when and I mean WHEN!! have they ever been able to perfectly sync a video for a compression. Adding a black bar in the middle of the screen doesn't make this a comparison.

Lets see, the were differences if u loooked carefullly enuf, in the jungle it looked "washed out" with the component cables and the colors with the hdmi seemed richer and darker. it also looked a bit sharper wih the hdmi cables.

What resolution are they both taken in? Either you are trying to make us all out to be fools, or indeed GameTrailers are the fools. We know component is @ 720(progressive I'm assuming). What is HDMI; 720? 1080? please it looks like GT is in need for some new management because they are playing damage control,UNFORTUNATELY, its just creating more damage.
Secondly, how can they do a comparison video when it doen't even run in HD? What is this SD stuff. NOT a valid comparison video in SD.

-Here is a test video comparing RGB Full with ultra white vs RGB limited on a "test" machine. It doesn't run the same as any of our "real" ps3's.
There is a Big difference From RGB limited to RGB Full. (You have to see it with your own eyes. Believe me. Look at all the other ps3 owner on here saying "big difference")
-just so everyone knows, it is impossible to capture video from a HDMI device that has HDCP. (every ps3 has HDCP except the dev machines can disable this).

i find it strange that there is so much animosity over a crap game, but when faced with a really beautiful game they show none toward ps3 owners. i guess they were picking their jaws up off the ground.

now that my rant is over about that, u can see in the darker colours, ones that blend or are close to shadows there is more intensity in the colour....what i dont understand about it though, is that even if they found a way to capture HDMI, then this is a raw compression of that data...but it still looks better on my HDTV.

i've been using the RGB and Super White settings since they became available, and i always wondered why the games running on my system looked *DIFFERENT than what they're videos were showing.

like it's a dispute between component and HDMI, when that's *NOT what people are contesting.

what we're contesting is Game Trailer *NOT using the RGB FULL option in the PS3 when doing their comparisons. it's already been proven, *REPEATEDLY, that when RGB is set to LIMITED on the PS3, the games aren't as vibrant and colorful. when RGB is set to *FULL however, the contrast is much better, with blacks, blacker, textures sharper, and the color palette more, well, *COLORFUL.

they're trying to make the complainers look like idiots to those that don't fully understand the conflict.

i guarantee there'd be a difference if they ran the game (over HDMI), with RGB set to Limited, then with RGB set to Full. i'm sure they tested it, saw the difference, *KNEW they were in the wrong, and decided on this spin-tactic.

did they really have to choose the worst looking level in the game? it's my least favorite at least. some of the later levels make the first jungle level look bad.

You notice the thicker black bar in the middle instead of a clear transition? It's a know fact that it makes your eyes "blur" the difference between two frames. If you put to close shades of red together and put a black bar between, you would be hard pressed to see the difference. Put the bar away, and it's easy. It's a FACT.

I think the difference are obviously enough even with the extreme video compression and tons of compression artifacts. Still not as good as the true lossless screen grab here

Unfortunately GameTrailers is still trying to throw bs to its audience. This is UNCHARTED a game FULLY optimized for the platform. It won't show the HUGE differences that multi-platform games such as Assassin's Creed will for example.

Way to go GameTrailers PR, you've failed once again. Trying to showcase an optimized Playstation 3 title for the difference between Component and HDMI (RGB Full Range and Full White).

Would've been a better comparison to have shown Assassin's Creed or a multi-platform game. Then you can really see the difference because GameTrailers already has Assassin's Creed footage (in the XBOX360/PS3 comparison video). Are they afraid that we'll see just how much a difference it will make? I think so, that's why they shoved this Uncharted video at the public audience, because it is fresh.

Anybody watch Xplay today?, dude was so busy trying to market the PS3 he sounded like somebody was controling his mind.

He was trying to hype Burnout Paradise like it was some great technical marvel that only the PS3 could handle. I wouldn't be surprized if BO-P had some extra love that could have been given to the 360 but wasn't so they wouldn't sound like noobs due to the claims they made about PS3 and it being the lead.

regardless, go to 2:44 in the scene and you can see a big difference.. the surface and textures are 100% better on hdmi.

The trouble with using Full RGB is that it requires a HDMI 1.3 compatible TV, if your TV is not compatible with Full RGB all that will happen is dark/black areas will just get crushed and result in a loss of detail.

To see what I mean just watch the Assassins Creed video linked earlier ( http://www.gametrailers.com...

The most obvious place is at the 2:16 scene where the tower and platform are just a mess of black under Full RGB, it may look better contrast-wise but you're actually sacrificing a lot of detail.

I bought my ps3 in the same day when Uncharted came out. I went home and of course first thing i did was put the game on. Five friends arround me all waiting to see the astonishing gfx of Uncharted and the ps3. The first cut scene comes on and.... disaster. Everyone, including me, went IS THAT IT. Everyone started mocking me for paying £360 for that. I went mad.
The next day, fiddling about with the ps3 menu, checking the options, i come across an option called RGB, turned that on, than supper whitte, turned that on as well even if i didn`t know what all that meant. Then i discovered that the output was actualy 480p so i changed that to 720p. All of a sudden everything was brighter, crisper and more colourfull.
Than i went to play the game again to see if there`s any differences and OMG, i was stunned. The game suddenly becane jaw dropping gorgeous. I wanted to call my friends to show them the diffrence but the damage was done. Now i`m waiting for GT5P to rub the gfx in theyr faces.
Ever since that day the ps3 has become my fav console, with the 360 more of games console, and the ps3 the main entertainment system.

I never rely on video on the Internet to make a judgement call on a game. Most of it is compressed so that it can be streamed and it isn't always an accurate representation of the game. You can get a general idea of how it looks in motion, but it definitely has limitation.

HDMI w/Full RBG is basically no different than component, probably 98% of the time no difference visually with either.

You know a media group is in damage control mode when they start coming up with things like this. Too late. Caught out. Credibility gone. They had an agenda... or was maybe paid to push a certain agenda.

Anyway... it is all over now. Whenever they release a comparison based on graphics... no one will actually believe them.

News Flash! Crisis the most graghically intense game uses a DVD. So a game having to be on Blu-Ray to have good graphics is bull. The fact is I'm waiting for the PS3 to show me the power of the cell because as it stands right now so far the PS3 is a big disappointment! you can set your ps3 to output only 480 and 1080p and it will play in 1080p.

We all know what full rgb looks like compared to limited.

Let the xbots enjoy this one, because it doesn't make UT3 come out sooner for the 360, nor does it make all of its exclusive no longer be available on the PC.

Enjoyable quality with both. The whole HD race thing kills the whole idea of gaming. The game itself should matter not the graphics really. Graphics of course are a nice bonus if they look decent.

DS Lite for example, damn good games in tiny package.

After playing through uncharted and watching with disbelief the graphics and sound through HDMI, nothing else comes close. This is the best looking game out and has been my most addictive game to date, having played through it three times and collecting 960 bonus pts, still have 40 to go! Picking up a game that is ported on both systems doesn't even touch the graphics, sound and fun factor of this game. I almost don't even want to bother with games made for both systems as I know that they are limiting what is possible. Good thing FFXIII, metal gear, Killzone2, and resistance 2 are only coming out for PS3, let the real gaming begin.

Guys, if you can't get an amazing picture using Limited RGB then you are not configuring your TV's brightness/contrast correctly.

I have tried my PS3 and TV (which supports full RGB) and Limited is EXACTLY THE SAME as Full, when both the PS3 and TV are set to Full it is exactly the same as when both are set to Limited.

The only time I saw any difference was when I didn't set my TV to expect Full RGB signal, the contrast did indeed look a lot better BUT if you look carefully the dark areas are CRUSHED and all DETAIL IS LOST in dark areas.

So to summarise:

PS3 Setting / TV Setting / Result
Limited ----- Limited ---- Normal
Limited ----- Full ------- Black becomes grey, extremely bright
Full -------- Limited ---- Crushed blacks, detail lost in dark areas
Full -------- Full ------- Normal (identical to Limited/Limited)

So to summarise, I'm pretty sure the Full RGB setting was just added so that you could plug your PS3 into a PC monitor (which needs a Full RGB signal) via HDMI.

As far as the Gametrailers comparisons are concerned I'm not sure why the PS3 image seems to look so "washed out", it certainly doesn't on my TV even using Limited (which I do use since I see no advantage to full), perhaps Xbox 360 just outputs a much darker image than PS3 by default or it is in the way they are capturing it.

For me it's 2, 1, 4, 3, and GA; That's going from the time I first played them not now. Now I would have it 2, 4, 3, 1, GA.

Uncharted 2, 1, 4, 3 that's is my order of best to worst. kend you they're all great in their own right.

I have to agree with that order (2, 4, 3, 1), though I think The Lost Legacy was also a great entry. Now I'm motivated to go back to Vita, finish Golden Abyss, then play the remastered trilogy on PS4 :)
