Do You Remember? - Need for Speed: Underground 2

Nave360's Charlie writes:

"Developed by EA Blackbox (who believe it or not developed Need for Speed: The Run and the "Skate" games), this was the best Need for Speed on the last generation of consoles... unless you count Most Wanted, but I never played that. Some critics were a little bit harsh with the game, but others knew this was a true Need for Speed game. This is the sequel to the less popular "Need for Speed: Underground" and whilst I liked it, the sequel bettered it by a lot."

Underground 3, MAKE IT HAPPEN!

brettyd5140d ago

Best NFS ever? Yes I remember.

Tony-Red-Grave5140d ago (Edited 5140d ago )

i dont know about "best" but it had the most depth in any NFS IIRC. It's been a long time since i played it on gamecube, or ps2, But i remember being able to see the engine when i hooked up new parts. also remember the special parts i won for my dodge neon...... Then selling it for a god damned supera.... saddest day of my gaming life

edit: i could actually be remembering the original game :/ been to much of a long time.

El_Colombiano5140d ago

Did I just read Neon > Supra?

sriki0075140d ago

the visual customizations were the best in that game. Ahh good times.

Wolfbiker5140d ago

I enjoyed 1 more but they're both sweet.

Retro Runback: 'Need for Speed Underground 2'

VICE:

Doing these Retro Runback pieces on GameCube games always makes me feel old. I mean, at this point, it’s been over 20 years since its release. So, it counts as retro — it just hurts to acknowledge it. This time around, it’s one of my favourite racing games of all time: Need for Speed Underground 2.

Popsicle477d ago (Edited 477d ago )

There may be racing games that have surpassed this one over the years, but I never had more fun with a racing game than I did with Underground 2.

gold_drake476d ago

underground 1 and 2 were the best racer games bk then

unfortunately we havent had any really good ones, that isnt mario kart, since.

JunonZanon476d ago

Yes, but good news! Tokyo Xtreme racer is coming back! Early access release January 20th and full release later in the year.

The hours I've spent on TXR Zero back in the day. Literally played that game for about 3-4 YEARS.

Nfs has been giving us the same mechanics over and over again. They have recently been leaning more into street racing because of popular demand from the fans, but they aren't quite there yet.

I would suggest they simply remake the NFS underground series, and in 2005, most wanted and go from there after getting the baseline of what the fans want.

cammers1995543d ago

Well, they should remake underground and underground 2.

Retroman542d ago

They should remake Hotpursuit 2, Highstakes, Underground also

Tra-D214543d ago

I wish Rockstar would remaster Midnight Club Dub edition and Midnight Club LA

Soy543d ago

Peaked with Most Wanted on the 360, been mediocre since.

How Need for Speed has reinvented itself for 30 years

"Need for Speed has always been too ahead of its time." An in-depth development team interview, covering 30 years of NfS.

gold_drake560d ago

underground 1 and 2 are still the best ones.

isarai559d ago

And they're spent every game after that trying to chase that high and never meeting it

Ninver558d ago

Makes you think if gamers are looking to relive nostalgia or each dev that has attempted to mimic the glory days are just incompetent?

DarXyde558d ago

Truth. Loved Midnight Club.

I wouldn't be mad at another proper Underground or Most Wanted (PS2/X360) entry though.
