You could tell Agent is no longer exclusive to PS3 from how Jack answered the question last year @E3

LOGICWINS5095d ago

At this point, I don't care whether its exclusive or not. I just want to see some gameplay. If its good, then I'll buy it regardless.

NYC_Gamer5095d ago

I agree,i don't care about the game being exclusive just wanna see gameplay and hear details...It's too expensive for third party to be only on one platform anyway...

morganfell5095d ago

I think people are misreading Jack's comments. I believe the game is still exclusive to Sony, just not the PS3. Based on Job Listings and such I think the game has been pushed to the PS4. I don't believe that Sam and Dan Houser are going to forgo paying back Sony in the same manner in which Ubisoft did with Splinter Cell on the 360.

It is always perplexing to hear certain people act as if MS exclusivity is a natural fact but when it occurs with Sony it is some sort of error by the press.

Commander_TK5094d ago

And what happens to all the millions of dollars they invested in (was L.A. Noire at first) so it can be an exclusive?

I h8 when devs/publishers announce something as an exclusive, then completely say it's multiplat.

I wanna see what Rockstar can do with the PS3 to its full potential.

SilentNegotiator5094d ago

If they let another Rockstar deal slip.....sheesh. An exclusive Rockstar game could have been the deal maker for this generation's playstation.

It doesn't much matter anymore. It would have been a defining game if it were closer to launch (almost for certain), set an entire new tone for the ps3. But now it will be a one-month system sales boost, at best.

gatormatt805094d ago (Edited 5094d ago )

I'm not sure what to think of this. Agent is the type of game that can/could really turn the tide for Sony. An exclusive game made by Rockstar North, the best of the best at Rockstar, heck is even debatably one of the best devs period.

I just wonder if R* was asking for more to keep this exclusive and Sony, not really the most financially stable at the moment , just couldn't fork out anymore money.

Maybe Sony thought they just couldn't risk it on a third party game. I don't know... I mean is it really a risk when it comes to Rockstar North... Of course this is all just me speculating

RedDead5094d ago

This is how I feel for this game and Versus XIII. I just don't care anymore. Need them now.

mp12895094d ago (Edited 5094d ago )

The exclusive games that matter most to me are the ones that push the PS3's visual limits like the Last of Us or GOW:A, otherwise its just bragging rights. Although its a shame they could have made the map five times bigger than GTA4.

Sandmano5094d ago

Yes exactly same thing happened last year. Stupid...

TheTwelve5094d ago

Since Sony will gladly let you know if a game is exclusive, for them to be shady about it means it is not exclusive.

user54670075094d ago (Edited 5094d ago )

If it's not an exclusive then the question is

Will Sony get there money back from Rockstar?

They invested a lot of money in L.A Noire when it was originaly a PS3 exclusive but then after Rockstar cut a deal to make AGENT an exclusive instead so L.A Noire could go multiplatform

bunfighterii5094d ago

If any sort of deal was cut, and Sony paid any money to have it exclusive, no doubt they'll get what they paid for that back. All these deals have a get out clause for the developer, but at the end of the day Rockstar/Take Two probably have more to gain from sales than they do with payments from Sony.

black9115094d ago

MY Guess is that the Agent is cancelled. And Sony Has Something Planned with Rockstar for Next-Gen.

house5094d ago

i think morganfall is right i think its been pushed or shelved for next gen which isn't a bad thing

ATi_Elite5094d ago

No longer stressing about Agent!

It's gonna come out Next Gen and be a Multi-plat.

More concerned about The Last Guardian being A NO SHOW at E3 AGAIN!

Nimblest-Assassin5094d ago (Edited 5094d ago )

Even though I do not have a 360... a game going multiplat is great news... because everyone has the chance to experience something potentially awesome

Also... I think GTA5 has become RS's top priority since everyone begs for info on the game at e3... even though rockstar said they wont be at the show

WeskerChildReborned5094d ago

I think Agent will releasing next gen also Last Guardian.

Emilio_Estevez5095d ago

Real question is will it ever even be released? He seems to think so.

Disccordia5095d ago

I seem to remember Jack saying the same thing last year.

btw, I get security warnings when trying to view this site.

kingdavid5095d ago

He also talked about the vita, dodged that as well.

"Play what you have now, its only been 4 months."

MySwordIsHeavenly5095d ago

Sony paid Rockstar to make an exclusive game. Whether it's Agent or not...they are obligated to make one game for Sony.

sikbeta5094d ago

It's not like that, Sony payed for LA Noire development, game took so long and Sony didn't want to invest anymore, so they handle it to R* in exchange to something, either money or a game, it's not known if it was payed already or some deal besides a game from R* was made

KMCROC545095d ago

Unless they reimburse Sony it original payment plus interest then they are not obligated to anything.

Rynx5094d ago

That's right!

wait...what?

pandaboy5095d ago

or so people keep saying, but I'd like to see that in writing from the original source because the way agent has been handled makes me doubtful.

LOGICWINS5095d ago

Thats what we were TOLD by publications. Doesn't mean its true. Heck, maybe it was never true. But at the VERY least, I would expect Rockstar to being making the PS3 the lead console for their open world games considering their complaints in the past about the 360's limited disc space.

Looks like PlayStation took a hit with Marathon and is now quietly adjusting prices worldwide to recover the losses

andy8520d ago

Lets be honest raising prices doesn't do that when no one's buying it. I imagine the profit it greater selling 10 times more at a lower price

Pergele20d ago

Whatever you say buddy, let's all wear the tinfoil hats.

IceKoldKilla20d ago (Edited 20d ago )

LMFAO Your comment alone says a lot more about you than anything else. When has one game not selling 10 million copies made a company raise the prices of their console? Then Xbox would be costing $5000 by now lol. You remind of the crazy drug addicts on the street rambling on about conspiracies. xD You sure you don't need a hug, buddy?

ChunkyMonk19d ago

One game that Sony payed $200 million for. lol
Also, you sure were quick to get triggered. Maybe your the one who needs a hug?

Eonjay19d ago

If nothing else, we should be united against the real issue here. AI and unnecessary tariffs that are effecting all gamers.

Athlon10120d ago (Edited 20d ago )

The price increases are due to the RAM demand associated with AI and the US-Iran war. You can look to any business news website and local news to see that. Heck, even the 2026 Asus Zenbook Duo I've been eyeing has faced delays and has had a price increase of $400; that laptop has two specs. Asus is doing a staggered release with per-orders for the lower spec now and shipping in May and pre-orders for the higher spec that I'm eyeing starting in June. Basically, all computer manufactures are affected. It'll most likely start affecting smart phones too if it hasn't already. I can't remember the last time any major console maker (Nintendo, Sony, Sega, etc) increased the price of their console mid cycle outside of Microsoft just to make more profit.

S2Killinit19d ago

Its not the war. Its the RAM issue.

jznrpg19d ago

War is causing gas prices to rise. Transport of everything requires gas so the prices of those items go up as well. So it does have an impact

Athlon10119d ago (Edited 19d ago )

The blockage of the Straight of Hormuz due to the US-Iran war has affected raw components used in semi-conductor manufacturing such as bromine, aluminum, and helium. Iran had attacked the liquified natural gas (LNG) plant in Qatar which is a large producer (1/3 globally) of helium which is used in semiconductor etching. So it's the both the war and the RAM crises.

badz14920d ago

Oh no...should I get the Pro now before the price increase?

I dont think that'll ever happen. But i must say back in the day, they were definitely trying because they were more cash rich than their competitors.

CosmicTurtle33d ago

I think MS were and still are the richer company. They tried to acquire Sega back in the day (and considered doing so again more recently), they obviously bought exclusivity to Halo which was originally shown as a Mac title. I don’t think as a company MS can claim the moral high ground here. It’s a wilful lack of self awareness.

Of course Sony would try exactly the same if they had the resources, but when the PS2 dominated the industry was in a much healthier place with an abundance of great third parties.

This has been a depressing generation as far as first party decisions are concerned. The fact we are debating business plans rather than which game is better is a sad reflection of the state of things.

Darkseeker33d ago (Edited 33d ago )

There was Nintendo as well, Sony wouldn't have had a monopoly. In fact, the world would be better today if Xbox never existed in the first place. They pretty much brought all bad practices we have today. We might have gotten all of it either way, but not this early. In term of franchises, I don't think there is anything Microsoft released that would actually be missed if it didn't exist. Even Halo the world wouldn't notice if Halo didn't exist.

S2Killinit33d ago

MS was definitely a bad influence on gaming.

raWfodog33d ago

I think almost everyone will agree that a monopoly is not good for the industry. But that being said, the competition needs to be smart and strategic with their business. Simply buying up publishers and traditional third-party studios just to keep them out of the other companies reach is not a sustainable practice. That goes for all parties so don't think I'm just referring to Xbox.

I'm no business guru by any stretch of the imagination but I firmly believe that the best way to drive consumers to your software and hardware is to invest smart in your first-party studios. Give them full support and guidance in making unique, fun games that are only available to play in your ecosystem and the gamers will come.

Reaper22_33d ago (Edited 33d ago )

But first party studios aren't enough. They only make up a small portion of the industry. Without 3rd party there would be no industry for Microsoft or sony.Developing games take time and money and sometimes you gotta make moves to stay competitive.

raWfodog33d ago

Nah, I never said first-party was enough. I said it’s the ‘best way’ to drive gamers to your platform. 3rd-party is a free-for-all and there’s no guarantee that gamers will use your hardware to play the game. If you want to push your own software and/or hardware you need first-party, or at least exclusive deals with third-party studios.

SimpleDad33d ago

They Shure did a great job... 25 years later Xbox is dead.

Reaper22_33d ago

Then why be so emotional and continue to talk about it. Xbox will never die be ause it stays in so many people's head.

lodossrage33d ago

How can you even see him being "emotional" in that comment?

If anything, you're the emotional one, constantly trying to go at anyone that says anything against Microsoft. So when you call him emotional, it comes off as deflection

Elda33d ago

I own an XBSX & I can say it's becoming irrelevant out of the 3 current consoles.
