Sony, I Am Disappoint.

"Sony, you have truly let me down this year. I had high hopes for fresh titles for the PS Vita, and some love for titles we had not seen in a while." Hard Reset writer Sam Wigmore was let down this year by Sony, the PS3 and the Vita.

I give Sony a 8 out of 10. MS a 7.

ksense5094d ago

4 months in and 30 titles later and 60 more to come this year alone people still complaining about lack of games on vita. yea quite a few of them are ports but that is expected with a new system launch and yes they did not show enough vita games at the conference and yes they spent a little more than they should have with that wonderbook crap but come on people show a little patience.it has been less than 4 months since the vita came out. there 3 days left with e3, there is gamescom, tgs vga etc...

I personally think they want to see what Nintendo show for wii u. lets not forget Nintendo scheduled another conference to highlight 3ds and maybe Sony realized that and decided to wait for Nintendo to show their stuff before upstaging it with vita stuff. just my hunch anyways.

buddymagoo5094d ago (Edited 5094d ago )

It's difficult for Sony because everyone always holds them to a higher standard but I am happy with a new IP Beyond, seeing gameplay footage of The Last of Us which was awesome! Then we have a new Assassins Creed on the Vita and cross play Battle Royal and that is all just exclusives!

GribbleGrunger5094d ago

agreed. and people are forgetting all the Vita titles that were shown prior to E3... remember, those games that people were saying there wouldn't be anything left to show on the Vita at E3?

modesign5094d ago

the 40+ 60 titles for 2012 is counting physical and didgital titles, its more 24 physical, 76 digital titles. still not enough.

gaffyh5094d ago

Well they did announce 2 very big games, AC3 and COD: BLOPS for the Vita, so that was good enough. At least they didn't waste time on PS2 and PSP.

Commander_TK5094d ago (Edited 5094d ago )

I think EA, Sony and MS all had just as good shows. Sony's one was the most disappointing due to the high expectations.

-They talked too much and spent a lot of time of on that book crap.

- PS Allstars looked nothing special.

- Again no real handheld games. U really think that people would want to play COD and AC on handhelds when the same games r so much better on home consoles? They need to have handheld games to save the Vita. Games like Angry Birds, Doodle Jump, Nintendogs r what people on the go. Simple and casual games.

+ Beyond looked amazing. Something fresh and new, and proving that there's no need for new consoles for at least another 2-3 years. And Ellen Page of course.

+ Assassin's Creed 3: Amazing demo. If they had other parties there besides Ubisoft...

+ The Last of Us: Haven't seen anything like it.

GOW? Nothing new. Calm down, PS3 fanboys, it's gonna be good, but what can u see that's different than the last GOW games?

For, me Ubisoft easily won thanks to their variety and surprises. Yes, Aisha Tyler was awkward, but hey, she was on 1 of the best shows of all time aka Friends.

Gave Sony a 7, MS a 6. Nobody blew my socks off. Everyone had one or two games that I liked, but there were no surprises at anyone other than Ubisoft.

ABizzel15094d ago

Ubisoft: 8.5
Sony: 8.5 (Wonderbook)
EA: 8
Microsoft: 7
Nintendo: E3 is your's for the taking, don't screw it up :D

JellyJelly5094d ago

I'd give MS a 4 or 5/10. I thought their showing was pretty mediocre apart from Halo 4 and Splinter Cell.

HiddenMission5094d ago

Really no surprises so you unlike the entire gaming world knew of Beyond and AC 3 for the Vita...

You should rethink your comment bro

Megaton5094d ago

@HiddenMission

Beyond was mentioned on N4G before the show, bro.

Lazy_Sunday5094d ago (Edited 5094d ago )

Everyone's tired of this gen. We know the boundaries, and it's apparent when the industry is advertising games using Nvidia's latest 600 series GPUs to show off games like Medal of Honor: Warfighter and FarCry 3. Remember when the Assassin's Creed 3 footage came on during the Ubi conference and it slowed down? That's because it was played on a console that was made almost 6 years ago. Yeah, The Last of Us, Halo 4, and Beyond look incredible. They also all look like they run around 25FPS. Despite the great games, we all knew deep down we wanted the next gen to come to this E3--it's the reason this one seems so meh.

Sony's conference was good. It didn't blow my socks off but it was still good.

The thing is, not EVERYTHING is revealed at the conference. E3 officially starts today and a lot more news is coming out bit by bit.

New vita games are still being revealed, new Vita functionality, new PS3 games, etc.

E3 is not over, just the conference.

morganfell5094d ago (Edited 5094d ago )

This ^. Most common sense statement made in this thread yet. Yes some big guns were brought out yesterday, but the number one thing about which the writer is complaining will start to surface today.

buddymagoo is also correct that Sony is held to a higher standard. If Jack had gotten up on stage and droned for half an hour about programming on PSN and then followed it with a performance of a song by some musical act Sony would have been flayed alive by people and by the almighty press.

BTW, "Game journalists. I am disappoint."

Nimblest-Assassin5094d ago

Yeah, Im surprised at the lack of adress to the vita sales... I was certain they would have a price drop

Man, Sony you guys need to start moving vitas... that 249 is intimidating for most, and they do not want to take the plunge.

Its a great handheld... but it needs sales

Godmars2905094d ago (Edited 5094d ago )

Didn't they announce COD for the Vita? That's not a big thing?

Not that I'd know, not being much of a FPS fan in general.

Arnon5094d ago

It's big for the Vita, but as an all-around announcement, it's not anything spectacular. Most people would rather purchase CoD on the home console rather than going out and spending $300~ for a Vita + CoD.

BlackSharinganX5094d ago

i dont know how this guy giving microsoft a 7 when he gave sony an 8, my friend you werent seeing the same conference as everyone else. Microsoft easily, was a 4.

Disccordia5094d ago

I think Sony should have not leaked Beyond and announced God of War, Battle Royale etc. weeks ago. People were expecting more surprises because of that. What they showed was still very nice though.

Chuk55094d ago

It was not bad.

I thought about it when I was talking to my friends yesterday.

I think both press confrences were actually pretty solid in spots. The MS one for Halo 4, smart glass and the tomb raider demo.

And the sony one for last of us and beyond.

I would give the sony one a B
I'd give the MS one a C+

I cannot even imagine how anyone can say anything positive about the MS press conference apart from Halo 4.

Atleast Sony showed some exclusive games.

Dread5094d ago

Halo 4
Fable
Gear of War judgment
Forza Horizon

say hi!

5094d ago
Imikida5094d ago

Well fable and Gears of War only had 30 sec trailers, so not really exciting.

shoddy5094d ago

Hhahahahahahahabbbaaaaaaa

edgeofsins5094d ago

Same exact games every e3. Gears of War is extremely repetitive. Fable keeps getting worse and worse just like Gears of War. Halo 4 looks very milked and not logically thought out(where did his jet pack thing come from in the first trailer that continues events after Halo 3). Forza I find mediocre. They try so hard to try and beat Gran Turismo and pretend they are a better simulator but every time when both games are tested against the real thing Gran Turismo always wins and it is tiring that blind fans keep denouncing Gran Turismo against it.

chazjamie5094d ago

yeah and sony killed the vita.

TekoIie5094d ago (Edited 5094d ago )

If MS had a bad conference then Sony had an awful one. People are just unwilling to admit that MS actually did good for once at E3. Brilliant conference Minus the fitness part. Loved nearly everything they show'd personally minus Xbox music, Fitness game and Wreckateer so for me 9/10.

Also I find that i dont like parts of a conference im not interested in. Before i got a ps3 i found things relatively uninteresting and i still do with the Wii (since i dont own one) and Im pretty sure this is the case with people on this site. But seriously it doesnt mean we have to be biased about things and act like fanboys...

Zha1tan5094d ago (Edited 5094d ago )

Surely you are trolling...

so basically except 90% of the conference you didnt like but you still gave it a 9/10.

Strong logic and I LOVE how you use the old fanboy excuse, what a pathetic argument.

Sonys press conference was fairly meh except for the last of us and God of war and lets not even mention nintendos..

Ubisofts was by far high and above the best.

Looks like PlayStation took a hit with Marathon and is now quietly adjusting prices worldwide to recover the losses

andy8520d ago

Lets be honest raising prices doesn't do that when no one's buying it. I imagine the profit it greater selling 10 times more at a lower price

Pergele20d ago

Whatever you say buddy, let's all wear the tinfoil hats.

IceKoldKilla19d ago (Edited 19d ago )

LMFAO Your comment alone says a lot more about you than anything else. When has one game not selling 10 million copies made a company raise the prices of their console? Then Xbox would be costing $5000 by now lol. You remind of the crazy drug addicts on the street rambling on about conspiracies. xD You sure you don't need a hug, buddy?

ChunkyMonk19d ago

One game that Sony payed $200 million for. lol
Also, you sure were quick to get triggered. Maybe your the one who needs a hug?

Eonjay19d ago

If nothing else, we should be united against the real issue here. AI and unnecessary tariffs that are effecting all gamers.

Athlon10120d ago (Edited 20d ago )

The price increases are due to the RAM demand associated with AI and the US-Iran war. You can look to any business news website and local news to see that. Heck, even the 2026 Asus Zenbook Duo I've been eyeing has faced delays and has had a price increase of $400; that laptop has two specs. Asus is doing a staggered release with per-orders for the lower spec now and shipping in May and pre-orders for the higher spec that I'm eyeing starting in June. Basically, all computer manufactures are affected. It'll most likely start affecting smart phones too if it hasn't already. I can't remember the last time any major console maker (Nintendo, Sony, Sega, etc) increased the price of their console mid cycle outside of Microsoft just to make more profit.

S2Killinit19d ago

Its not the war. Its the RAM issue.

jznrpg19d ago

War is causing gas prices to rise. Transport of everything requires gas so the prices of those items go up as well. So it does have an impact

Athlon10119d ago (Edited 19d ago )

The blockage of the Straight of Hormuz due to the US-Iran war has affected raw components used in semi-conductor manufacturing such as bromine, aluminum, and helium. Iran had attacked the liquified natural gas (LNG) plant in Qatar which is a large producer (1/3 globally) of helium which is used in semiconductor etching. So it's the both the war and the RAM crises.

badz14920d ago

Oh no...should I get the Pro now before the price increase?

I dont think that'll ever happen. But i must say back in the day, they were definitely trying because they were more cash rich than their competitors.

CosmicTurtle33d ago

I think MS were and still are the richer company. They tried to acquire Sega back in the day (and considered doing so again more recently), they obviously bought exclusivity to Halo which was originally shown as a Mac title. I don’t think as a company MS can claim the moral high ground here. It’s a wilful lack of self awareness.

Of course Sony would try exactly the same if they had the resources, but when the PS2 dominated the industry was in a much healthier place with an abundance of great third parties.

This has been a depressing generation as far as first party decisions are concerned. The fact we are debating business plans rather than which game is better is a sad reflection of the state of things.

Darkseeker33d ago (Edited 33d ago )

There was Nintendo as well, Sony wouldn't have had a monopoly. In fact, the world would be better today if Xbox never existed in the first place. They pretty much brought all bad practices we have today. We might have gotten all of it either way, but not this early. In term of franchises, I don't think there is anything Microsoft released that would actually be missed if it didn't exist. Even Halo the world wouldn't notice if Halo didn't exist.

S2Killinit33d ago

MS was definitely a bad influence on gaming.

raWfodog33d ago

I think almost everyone will agree that a monopoly is not good for the industry. But that being said, the competition needs to be smart and strategic with their business. Simply buying up publishers and traditional third-party studios just to keep them out of the other companies reach is not a sustainable practice. That goes for all parties so don't think I'm just referring to Xbox.

I'm no business guru by any stretch of the imagination but I firmly believe that the best way to drive consumers to your software and hardware is to invest smart in your first-party studios. Give them full support and guidance in making unique, fun games that are only available to play in your ecosystem and the gamers will come.

Reaper22_33d ago (Edited 33d ago )

But first party studios aren't enough. They only make up a small portion of the industry. Without 3rd party there would be no industry for Microsoft or sony.Developing games take time and money and sometimes you gotta make moves to stay competitive.

raWfodog33d ago

Nah, I never said first-party was enough. I said it’s the ‘best way’ to drive gamers to your platform. 3rd-party is a free-for-all and there’s no guarantee that gamers will use your hardware to play the game. If you want to push your own software and/or hardware you need first-party, or at least exclusive deals with third-party studios.

SimpleDad33d ago

They Shure did a great job... 25 years later Xbox is dead.

Reaper22_33d ago

Then why be so emotional and continue to talk about it. Xbox will never die be ause it stays in so many people's head.

lodossrage33d ago

How can you even see him being "emotional" in that comment?

If anything, you're the emotional one, constantly trying to go at anyone that says anything against Microsoft. So when you call him emotional, it comes off as deflection

Elda33d ago

I own an XBSX & I can say it's becoming irrelevant out of the 3 current consoles.
